Head in ROTF
[edit]Anybody else agree on Soundwave's head in the movie actually being that armoured decoy head the toy has on the back? Looking at the toy that matches far more with what I saw on screen, but I'll know for sure near end of this week when I go and see it again.Dead Metal 06:51, 29 June 2009 (EDT)

Toy shoulders
[edit]- The configuration for the satellite mode depicted in the toy's instructions is not the way Soundwave appears in the film, featuring a different angling for the panels on his shoulders. It's not a big change, but transforming the toy in accordance with his movie appearance does help to distinguish the jet from the satellite a little, since otherwise, virtually the only difference is in the positioning of the large panel "wings".
What, exactly, is that referring to? Although many fans (and the official press photos) skip it, the toy's instructions do show a change in the shoulder panels' position between the jet and the satellite: that's the only way the satellite's panels plug into them. I tried to look at the shoulders the last time I saw the movie, but they looked like the properly transformed version. Before I just delete that section, can someone show me what I'm missing? --Buttbutt 19:32, 2 July 2009 (EDT)
- Essentially, the toy shows the panels folded down against the shoulders - not bent in the middle and actually plugged into the circular grooves as they are for jet and robot modes, but straight, flat and downwardly-pointing. In the film, they're rotated 90 degrees, fanned out, with the large, flat side (with the orange circle) facing outward. Well, inasmuch as what you see in the movie looks anything like the toy. He's got two panels fanned out on either side of his head. I suppose, though, after a moment of reflection, that his panels shift and move about so much in the film that it might be a bit negligible. It's just that without it, the only difference between the two modes is bending the shoulder panels down a bit and clicking the large wing-panels into them. - Chris McFeely 19:42, 2 July 2009 (EDT)
New main picture
[edit]'Rise of the Decepticons' has a good double-page picture of Soundwave hacking into the American satellite, which I feel would be a better choice for main picture as it really embodies his role in the film. Would it be okay to change it, or does TFWiki have an unofficial policy that main pictures have to be of TF's in their robot mode? Tarrn 05:44, 9 July 2009 (EDT)
- Given that Soundwave doesn't use his robot mode in his most prominent fiction appearance, I think it would be fine if the article's main imagine was of his satellite mode. --KilMichaelMcC 12:25, 9 July 2009 (EDT)
- Okay, seeing the actual picture in question... I don't think that makes a very good main pic at all. It is dominated by the actual satellite and not Soundwave himself. --KilMichaelMcC 13:25, 9 July 2009 (EDT)
- I could crop it to focus entirely on Soundwave, although it looks a little odd as his main body is entirely on the left-hand side of the picture unless you crop the right wing too. I'm going to try a version where it's centered on his head and see what people think.Tarrn 18:09, 9 July 2009 (EDT)
Repeat?

Rumble and Laserbeak
[edit]Should we make seperate pages for Rumble and Laserbeak? The two appeared as pods in the DLC for the game so thy deserve a page! and I don't care if they weren't officially named, half the animated characters are unnamed! like "freeway" "carerra" so lets make a Rumble page and a Laserbeak Page! there is no reason we shouldn't!—The preceding unsigned comment was added by 92.238.187.82 (talk • contribs){{#if:13:10, September 2, 2009 (EDT)| 13:10, September 2, 2009 (EDT)|}}.

- Well, then we'll have to delete all the Kiss Players articles, won't we? I mean, if the word "rape" is unacceptable, then the visuals they include are right out, aren't they? ;-P - McFeely, not signed in
- Sweet! Oh... You are being sarcastic. I suggested that a while back but Scout shot the idea down. Personally, I think KP should not be called attention to by linking from completely unrelated articles for the sake of a... joke?. Seriously, I don't think we're doing Hasbro any favors. - Starfield 12:38, 14 December 2009 (EST)
- Oh, I take no issue with idea of removing the word-linking. Joke works on its own without needing the link. I take issue with the whole "Think of the children!" argument. "What if kids are reading this?" is not a workable argument for removing something from the wiki when official things like Kiss Players exist. - McFeely
- If Hasbro were that concerned about children stumbling onto "inappropriate" Transformers content, maybe they shouldn't have had that blockbuster movie with the swearing and the humping and the testicles. --ItsWalky 13:08, 14 December 2009 (EST)
- We totally need a screen shot of the satellite with a caption along the lines of "Why what's such a fine little satellite like you doing all alone out here in space?", also I think my image caption is awesome and it should stay the way it is. Dead Metal 14:30, 14 December 2009 (EST)

Hello, I'm a middle school girl, you really SHOULD get the tentacle rape line it's sorta awkward for a fan like me to be reading this, Sound wave is my favorite transformer next to bumble bee and I don't like the caption under that photo!
It's not inappropriate because of children seeing it, it's inappropriate because rape jokes are offensive. There are two rape jokes here and I find this disgusting. Rape should not be equated with humour. It's not the word "rape" that's unacceptable, it's the use of the subject as a joke. Especially "operation Childhood Raoe" and the one about "Why what's such a fine little satellite like you doing all alone out here in space?", that last one is misogynistic and all rape jokes contribute to rape culture and can be a trigger for rape survivors. In case you don't know what rape culture is, is the present society problem where rape victims are made fun of, or blamed for being raped. The rape jokes on this page can be a cause of much emotional harm in certain individuals. --FA254 14:34, 30 July 2013 (EDT)
- "Bayformers raped my childhood!" is a common absurd hyperbolic sentiment in the TF fandom, it's not a joke about children getting raped. I don't see any caption like the second one you mention, but with regards to the mainpic caption you tried to remove, I can't see that a joke about a robot 'raping' an inanimate object with tentacles is that outrageous on a wiki which documents instances of (attempted) tentacle rape on human women in fiction. I mean, what, are we going to put a big TRIGGER WARNING notice at the top of every Kiss Players page now? Jalaguy 15:16, 30 July 2013 (EDT)
- I removed the captions. "Raped my childhood" is a bullshit phrase I'd just as soon not see on this wiki (or ever) unless it's being dissected for its whining self-importance and asshattish insensitivity. And the mainpic one wasn't funny, it was just HURF DURF RAPE. So it goes. --M Sipher 15:22, 30 July 2013 (EDT)
Soundwave RPM
[edit]Why isn't it listed among his toys and merchandise? could someone please give me a coherent answer?.--ACIDSTORM92 23:00, 16 March 2010 (EDT)
- "No one has gotten around to it yet". It's been officially revealed, both at Toy Fair 2010 and on BWTF, so that's not an issue in this case. It might simply be a matter of waiting for the Hasbro stock photography to be released. (I forget who does most of the RPM updates... abates or apoc, I think?)
- Anyway, you might try adding "please" next time. Your statement came off as a bit impolite. --Monzo 23:20, 16 March 2010 (EDT)
- Sorry, was in a rush, tried to add the toy to the page but remembered to ask first before making any important edit--ACIDSTORM92 01:18, 17 March 2010 (EDT)
- I have already seen the toy in MercadoLibre (the mexican equivalent of eBay) and there's still no photo of RPM Soundwave? BTW, I believe his Legends toy needs a description, I'll take of it later.--ACIDSTORM92 22:27, 25 May 2010 (EDT)
- Turns out he was released in Mexico and other countries judging by the package. I'll give more info and photos when I get him. [1]
- It actually looks like the RPM release of Soundwave (and maybe the last two waves of other RPM product) was canceled for the United States (and probably Canada). We've only heard about them otherwise being released in the Philippines, and the Speed Stars (white card) version of Soundwave is already in stores. I don't know if the RPM and Speed Stars version of Soundwave are physically different, but I know they have slightly different bios. --Monzo 22:38, 23 August 2010 (EDT)
- I got him today (ironically, at the closest supermarket from my home), and it seems that the tetralingual (intended for all countries outside the U.S. in America) release doesn't come with a bio, unlike the one released in the Philppines. He does have some deco differences compared to the Speed Stars version: the Speed Stars version lacks paint in the doors, as well as the chest, arms, legs and face of the "robot" mode unlike the RPM release that has this fully painted and the plastic in the bottom of the car is cast in a different color: the RPM version is bronze while the Speed Stars version is golden. The robot mode looks like WFC Soundwave, so I suggest this toy is also listed or noted in that page, (Soundwave (Prime)), however, the RPM bio identifies him as ROFT Soundwave, I haven´t read the Speed Stars bio so Í'm not sure about that toy's identity. Oh, and the RPM release has "Soundwave-Audio" written on the inferior part of the doors in adition to having the tail lights painted (in red)-ACIDSTORM92 19:01, 7 September 2010 (EDT)
- Do we consider RPM/Speed Stars Soundwave the same character as ROFT Soundwave? Oh, and the rest of the Metal Heroes have just been released in all local supermarkets in my area.-ACIDSTORM92 04:00, 16 September 2010 (EDT)
- Despite his oddball design, the bio and "Paramount Pictures" logo seem to suggest he is ROTF Soundwave in a new Earth mode. --abates 04:51, 16 September 2010 (EDT)
- The Stealth Force toy lacks any Paramount Pictures logo or information anywhere on its packaging, though. Indicator that it's meant to be G1 or WFC/Prime? --Detour 01:46, 15 October 2010 (EDT)
- I spotted him in a store today, and his bio starts off (and I'm paraphrasing because at $20 I wasn't game to buy one) "He may have left his post in orbit to join his fellow Decepticons on the ground..." which implies to me that he's ROTF Soundwave. --abates 18:51, 18 October 2010 (EDT)
- Well again there's no Paramount or Dreamworks logos anywhere... Don't have either bios handy (trilingual packaging here means I don't see bios until after I've opened a toy) I wonder if there's any similarities between the Generations WFC Soundwave bio and the Stealth Force one. --Detour 19:25, 18 October 2010 (EDT)
- I'm guessing they get to skip on using the Paramount/Dreamworks logos, because there's no connection in appearance to movie Soundwave, plus they're not using ROTF branding any more. SF 'Wave's bio is all about his sonic weapons, while WFC 'Wave's bio is all about how he's a storehouse of knowledge, so there's no similarities I can see. --abates 19:45, 18 October 2010 (EDT)
- I found some photos of RPM Soundwave, but they are from an user of TFW2005 [2]. Should we use them?-ACIDSTORM92 17:15, 3 May 2011 (EDT)

Page Name Change
[edit]Would it be better if the page's name was changed to "Soundwave (Movie)" as opposed to "Soundwave (ROTF)". Soundwave appeared in both ROTF and DOTM. The page's name suggests that he was only in ROTF. I can't see why the page isn't called "Soundwave (Movie)" because there isn't another page with that name. 96.238.30.200 12:23, 26 November 2011 (EST)
- It's because our disambiguation tags are based on the franchise the characters first appear in, rather than the continuity they occupy, in the same way we've got Optimus Prime (Armada) when he was in Energon and Cybertron, or Grimlock (G1) when he appeared in Generation 2 and Henkei. - Chris McFeely 12:36, 26 November 2011 (EST)

his studio series alt mode isn't any more accurate than the old rotf as the current info on the toy section claims as his body extend back a bit and has an extra panel only seen on the legends class toy currently, while the studio series for the most part uses the same layout as the original toy and even uses the side panels with double "blades" instead of a single one, with the only more accurate part being the visible eyes and the cone on the back of the head and some assorted details here and there in alt mode, but even then, the satellite proportions are way off compared to what was seen onscreen , being the rotf closer overall looking bette ror worse thats debatable but the new figure ISN'T more accurate(talk)
