This paragraph is horrendous...

[edit]
  • Although a case could be made for the replacement of Starscream's original developed personality in earlier episodes with his amnesiac mind being the viewers introduction to an infamous Energon trait, this is the first concrete instant i.e. the taking of a character, erasing every bit of character development from either this or the preceding series and turning them into a lobotimized characterless zombie. Other notable examples of development being completely dropped for no good reason include Demolishor, Scorponok (twice) and Inferno.

Really, this bit of prose is nonsensical. The "although" sets up a comparison that never arrives, the "i.e." is separated from what it is supposed to be explaining and the "first concrete instant" should probably be instance. Can somebody please explain what this paragraph was supposed to mean? --Khajidha 11:09, 6 October 2010 (EDT)

Yes, the "although" generally does destroy whatever sense of meaning the paragraph was building up to, what I got from the person writing it was that the Energon series destroyed/erased a character and his/her personality and character development while retaining the name, therefore creating a blank slate for essentially a new character (and possibly new toy) to step in while retaining the same name.
Got that part, but how does it relate to the rest of the paragraph? --Khajidha 12:15, 6 October 2010 (EDT)
I think it shows that Starscream is no longer the angsty loner fangirl bait he was in Armada and no longer the same kind of person only now drunk with power in the first half of Energon, but now serves Megatron like a usual boring decepticon lackey. --LokitheGrammarNazi 16:38, 6 October 2010 (EDT)
So, how can we rephrase this to actually be English? Or is it not important enough to mention in the article? --Khajidha 17:54, 6 October 2010 (EDT)
It's probably not that important, anyone with any knowledge of Energon knows this has happened at least once to every single character in the series. --LokitheGrammarNazi 09:39, 11 October 2010 (EDT)
