Talk:Transformers: All Spark
Category
[edit]I don't even know WHAT to put down as for Category/Default Sort. "TRANSFORMERS ALLSPARK" like the title? "Transformers Allspark" because it's easier? --Lonegamer78 00:13, 31 October 2012 (EDT)
Author details
[edit]On the title page for chapter 2, alongside Tsushima and Sayuri, TakTom's labeled as "Collaborators" (alongside "Original Work"). Put them down as "editor" or "story consultants"? --Lonegamer78 03:24, 31 October 2012 (EDT)
- I think add collaborators to the comicstory template. --abates 03:59, 31 October 2012 (EDT)
- That'd work. --Lonegamer78 04:09, 31 October 2012 (EDT)
Two questions
[edit]- Why the ALLCAPS? Japanese media does it all the time, but the wiki never followed that. American companies also frequently do it to indicate their property, and we also don't pay attention to that.
- Why "Spike (ALL SPARK)"? Is there something that makes him absolutely not just a variation of G1 Spike? Mimi 18:15, 2 February 2013 (EST)
- To your first question, partly because I couldn't decide whether to go with just "Transformers All Spark", "Transformers: All Spark", or something else. The all-caps was just the easiest, although it might be changed later on. On the second question, while "All Spark" is pretty much advertised as a retelling of the G1 cartoon, it's barely four (well, five) chapters in and a touch too early to tell. Spike here hasn't spoken/shown much yet, and I'd be jumping to conclusion if I outright put him as "Spike Witwicky (G1)". Plus, the author, Naoto, hasn't given his surname yet either. --Lonegamer78 19:00, 2 February 2013 (EST)
- I think at this point it's safe to go with Spike being Spike Witwicky and Chip being Chip Chase. If it later turns out that they're not the G1 characters, we can always split them out. --abates 22:53, 4 April 2013 (EDT)
Chapter order
[edit]This was a bit of difficulty for me as the "Another Episode" two-part was published smack dab between chapters 4 and 5. The main reason why I place them chronologically is because the "Another Episode" chapters are primarily a side-story to the main All Spark chapters, due to occurring in the past. If I had to compare, War Within to the main DW's Generation One, story-telling wise. As much as I want to have them in published order according to the month, I'm inclined towards chronological order. Thoughts? --Lonegamer78 01:49, 10 July 2013 (EDT)
- I probably jumped the gun there (and will revert myself if you feel strongly about it). But I feel that they're all part of the same series, not like TWW, which was entirely its own thing. Those chapters were published between 4 and 5 for whatever reason (even if it was just to sell Generations toys) and I feel like we should respect that and preserve the order. It's like with IDW's Spotlights, we keep them in published order despite them jumping all over the place chronologically. Mimi 02:01, 10 July 2013 (EDT)
- There is that, but my feeling is that due to most manga pretty much operates on somewhat different rules compared to most Western comics due to how they're published, and a bit on the storytelling styles. If both "Another Episode"s had been labeled "Episode *insert number*: Another Episode" after Episode 4 when serialized in KeroA, and Episode 5 was labeled as Episode 7 instead, then I would have no problem. This would indicate a flashback/glimpse-into-the-past arc - for examples, Tsuiokuhen in the Rurouni Kenshin manga and the "Everything but the Rain" arc in Bleach. --Lonegamer78 02:12, 10 July 2013 (EDT)
