Is there a need for a page on BotBots as a race of transformer? Indridcold13 (talk) 05:46, 27 March 2022 (EDT)
- You know, I've kinda wondered this myself, especially given the amount of times I've seen "BotBots" (in the species context) ending up getting linked to the BotBots franchise article (this article) because it's all we have right now. I can't think of a specific example off the top of my head, but with the amount of edits I've done to a ton of BotBot-related articles over the past day and a bit, I've seen several links like that. I definitely think there is enough of a reason for an article, but I'd be interested what others might have to say on the topic. -- Fanofcoolstuff27 (talk) 07:11, 27 March 2022 (EDT)
- My inclination would be to rework the existing AllSpark Mutation page into a broader "energon mutation" page, that covers the bots from TF07 and ROTF, the bots from that Bee Movie deleted scene, and BotBots. While the details obviously differ between continuities, there's a consistent base concept of "energon turning inanimate objects into mischievous Transformers" - we've taken a similar approach with articles like unspace that cover a concept that's basically the same idea but has different names/details across continuities. (For reference, ROTF explicitly names the energy radiated by the AllSpark as energon, so IMO it's not a stretch at all grouping those bots into this.) Jalaguy (talk) 09:58, 27 March 2022 (EDT)
- I agree the Allspark Mutation page needs to expand to include BotBots. --ItsWalky (talk) 10:27, 27 March 2022 (EDT)
- Makes sense to me. We have been using Energon radiation for the cloud that brought them to life, expanding Allspark Mutation as well, just makes sense. Only real difference I see is the movie mutations are just technological based and BotBots are anything. Plus they still are whatever they were before. So Clogstopper is a robot made of wood and rubber, Burgertron is a robot made of beef, buns, ect.ParadoxFactor (talk) 13:20, 27 March 2022 (EDT)

Terminology shift
[edit]Hasbro has started very consistently using "squad" instead of "tribe" across both the Botbots cartoon and the series 6 product descriptions and I propose TFWiki do the same, both for consistency's sake and because I think it's likely that they changed it due to the racial baggage that comes with the word. (They do still use "tribe" on the Botbots website but it looks like hasn't been updated in like, years.) Rgby (talk) 15:26, 20 April 2022 (EDT)
- That seems fairly reasonable if it's going to be Hasbro's preferred terminology going forward. We can still use "tribe" for specific fiction that uses the term and add a trivia note to the main BotBots page noting the shift, but we should probably opt for "squad" in all other usages. -- Cyberlink420 (talk) 19:14, 20 April 2022 (EDT)
- Fully agree. Squad seems to have become the go to usage starting with the Mad Libs book, which was released after the last BotBots website update. Given the cartoon's usafge is the most public exposure to the franchise, using squad makes sense to me.ParadoxFactor (talk) 19:17, 20 April 2022 (EDT)
