Note
[edit]Why is "this doesn't fit in with another story" any more useful here than on any other page? Saix (talk) 01:51, 11 February 2016 (EST)
- Because the main Universe comic depicts a multiverse-spanning war based on the damaged Unicron trapped in interdimensional space abducting from different universes by teleportation beams, not an intact Unicron in a universe's normal space abducting by a ship. S.H.I.E.L.D. Agent 47 (talk) 02:19, 11 February 2016 (EST)
- Yes, and? Different pieces of fiction are inevitably not going to jibe. Saix (talk) 09:34, 11 February 2016 (EST)
- I found myself questioning the notes removal when I noticed it in the edit history. It seems like it does little harm, and maybe some good. Why not leave it?--Giggidy (talk) 09:42, 11 February 2016 (EST)
- It's a self-indulgent and editorializing note awkwardly jammed into the middle of a fiction section. What exactly does it accomplish than to spell out the obvious to the reader? Saix (talk) 09:45, 11 February 2016 (EST)
- I guess I found the information useful and not necessarily obvious. And I'm not sure which self is being indulged, or how. --Giggidy (talk) 09:47, 11 February 2016 (EST)
- As someone not really familiar with Universe, I find it extremely confusing, and could see the value of potential clarification. However, there's already a note to the same effect on the Universe CD-ROM page, and there's really no need for it to be replicated here. -Foffy the Sheep (talk) 09:56, 11 February 2016 (EST)
- It's part of an indulgent trend to slap notes on everything to explain pedantic continuity points. And I think "lots of details don't match up" is apparent enough from reading the actual prose itself; it's a different story, and that fact doesn't really need elaboration. Saix (talk) 09:59, 11 February 2016 (EST)
- It's probably worth remembering that some of these notes might be tailored toward new or casual readers, who either might not feel like wading through a novella's worth of information to try and find out how this stuff stacks up against one another. Universal stream designations and the like are all interesting, yes, but there's also basic clarity and readability to consider, especially for new fans that actually want to learn about Transformers stuff. - I think the note should be removed from this page, but kept in the notes section for Universe CD-ROM. It provides valuable information, but really has no business on this particular page, where it just pointlessly clogs up the fiction section. -Foffy the Sheep (talk) 10:05, 11 February 2016 (EST)
- Strictly speaking, it should probably be a separate page as the "Universe War" described in it is a different storyline from the "Universe War" in all the other sources. However, that would be the height of sillyness. Therefor, I think the note is appropriate here. --Khajidha (talk) 10:45, 11 February 2016 (EST)

Just to take things up a level, in general I find it confusing trying to know when two consecutive blocks of fiction with different headers are in the same narrative, or there has been a reset. This note helps with that. It's admittedly symptomatic of a greater problem, but at least in this instance it's useful to know that the FP stuff is a direct continuation of the 3H stuff but the CD Rom stuff is completely separate. Simply reading the fiction does not make that clear, at all. If we don't want to use notes, we do need to use SOMETHING. --Giggidy (talk) 10:12, 11 February 2016 (EST)
- What if we just trimmed it down to say "This doesn't quite line up with the rest of Universe, see Transformers: Universe CD-ROM#Notes for details"? -Foffy the Sheep (talk) 10:15, 11 February 2016 (EST)
