Talk:Whirl (G1)

Minor trivia about the Oberon Gazzette: The pilot figure that came with it was actually a woman. So I guess before he was a Transformer, Whirl was a girl.

Given the pilot of the Oberon Gazzette was "Louie Oberon", I suspect he just LOOKS like a girl. Which should be no shock; this is anime, after all. -LV 12:24, 14 April 2007 (UTC)
And a quick fact check since then has proven my info was quite outdated. Thankyou, kind LV, for helping me learn. Now I know!
And knowing is half the battle! G I JOOOOOOOOOOE! - Dark T Zeratul 23:31, 14 April 2007 (UTC)
Ugh, odd, nerdy compulsion that makes me need to comment on a seven year old (almost to the day?) discussion thread. It's actually Louise Oberon, so yeah, Whirl was a girl before.EShadowP (talk) 16:37, 16 April 2014 (EDT)

Hey there, please dont make edits to the Wiki based on speculation alone. I know you love Rotorstorm and want to spice up his history, but until it has been actually stated in the comics or by the writeres that Whirl is Jetstream, it doesnt belong in the Wiki. User: Apple Pie

Liability

[edit]

Granted, I unfortunately still haven't read Chaos Theory part II, and this likely falls under speculation, but is the "liability" thing from Bullets linked at all to Chaos Theory? If not, I'd be fine with this talk page edit getting reverted. Also, heh, Whirl's Go Box popped up while I was editing. 24.11.110.62 14:52, 13 August 2011 (EDT)

Not...really. Perhaps on something of a tangent insofar as Whirl used to hang with a rather unsavory crowd. But he does seem to have legit regard for Orion/Optimus as he tries to save face with him and then gives him a rather earnest warning about crossing the corrupt Senate. --Nu-Priest 15:26, 13 August 2011 (EDT)

Jetstream

[edit]

In MTMTE #6, Whirl states that "I bounced around a bit, changed my name, became a flight instructor, and then eventually I joined the Wreckers." Knowing his tendency to spew lies and be inconsistent, and the lack of any solid connection between him and Jetstream, I don't think we should include the Theory that he IS Jetstream until such has been confirmed in the comic or by the Writers.

This would be true if it were BASELESS speculation. But all the current evidence explicitly points to the fact that Jetstream and Whirl were the same guy. Until something in-canon contradicts it (like recently, the manner of Zeta Prime's death), it should stay. --Nu-Priest 15:36, 27 June 2012 (EDT)
All of Whirl's lies have been self-serving. He doesn't do it randomly. And there's no reason for him to lie about a minor detail of his life that illuminates data from another story in which he wasn't present. --ItsWalky 16:12, 27 June 2012 (EDT)

Quoting Bullets, page six "Jetstream was standing over him, fists clenched" Whirl doesnt have fists, and has never been shown to save for in the Toy only Universe version. --User: Apple Pie

Now you're just grasping at straws. Which is something you can do with your brain, despite it not having fingers. --ItsWalky 18:56, 27 June 2012 (EDT)
He has claw things... that he can clench to form a fist-like punching tool. For him to punch prisoners with. --Detour 18:59, 27 June 2012 (EDT)
He used to be a watchmaker, so I presume he had hands at some point? --abates 21:43, 29 June 2012 (EDT)

Alright, I'll give you that, but there is a serious continuity error in MTMTE #6. Either that, or Whirl is lying. Up until the point, Springer had said he personally kicked Whirl out of the wreckers, prior to G-9. So Whirl could not have been with Roadbuster to try and kill Springer, or kicked out by RB.

I think you need to read the section again. --ItsWalky 16:12, 27 June 2012 (EDT)
I like to think that the reason Whirl is so selfish and cruel is because of council performing empurata on him, I mean, look what it did to Shockwave, maybe it messed Whirl up to, and he was a decent guy before. --Hhall3 7:01, 16 May 2013 (EDT)

The original box art is fine, but isn't there some Roche-y goodness we could throw up there? --Xaaron 15:22, 18 May 2013 (EDT)

Unless Roche has ever draw a nice clean picture of Whirl's original body...I think we're out of luck. I'm fairly certain in recalling the DW MTMTE Whirl art was pretty bad, so that's probably the best mainpic of Whirl we're gonna get for the time being. --Nu-Priest 19:13, 18 May 2013 (EDT)
