Talk:Whirl (ROTF)
Is there a strong reason to believe this guy is different from the previous Movie Whirls?--76.28.76.206 05:30, 4 June 2011 (EDT)
- Bump. Anyone? --76.28.76.206 22:33, 7 June 2011 (EDT)
- I would agree to it. I've added the merge notice to Whirl (ROTF) hoping to attract more attention. --Khajidha 08:14, 8 June 2011 (EDT
I agree. We meged DOTM< Backfire with the HFTD one right?Starscream0625 11:00, 9 June 2011 (EDT)
- I wouldn't think so. One's a Metallikato master and the other is a strategist. --Detour 13:38, 8 June 2011 (EDT)
- But those are not mutually exclusive things, in fact they would draw on similar mental skills. --Khajidha 13:41, 8 June 2011 (EDT)
- Yeah. Two things: 1)link to the text that calls him a strategist? and 2) as said above, one can easily be a strategist and know "robo-fu." Infact that fits pretty well. Our policy has been to regard pan-movie characters as the same guy unless there's a strong reason not too, IIRC, I havn't seen one yet for these two.--76.28.76.206 13:44, 8 June 2011 (EDT)
- 1) The description on this page is a paraphrase of his on package bio. 2) Yeah, I'm going on the idea that same name + same continuity family = same dude unless proven otherwise (contradictory information or appearance of both at one time). --Khajidha 13:49, 8 June 2011 (EDT)
- But the page doesn't say any thing to suggest he's a Strategist, as in the job. One can like to plan things out before acting without being a Strategist. If the toy bio specifically says that's his job/function (does it? A link to that bio was kinda what I was asking for above ) then I think we should rewrite the profile here to make that clear. But either way, year, that's not enough to seperate them IMO.--76.28.76.206 14:22, 8 June 2011 (EDT)

- So then when do we put up the merge proposal for the Aurex Smokescreens? And then we can tackle the Sky Highs, and throw in a note that in Dreamwave they're different guys, like IDW's Megatron/Galvatron and Bumblebee/Goldbug. At least the PCC guys we merged had some sort of hint towards being the same. --Andrusi 15:32, 8 June 2011 (EDT)
- We're talking characters with out fiction appearances and without conflicting bios, with the same name and same alt mode in the same universe. Occum's Razor and simplicity says they belong together till we have ANY reason to think they're separate people.--76.28.76.206 15:45, 8 June 2011 (EDT)
- There's nothing in Cybertron Smokescreen's bio that contradicts him being Armada Smokescreen. He'd have to stop being Hoist, but if Megatron can do it... --Andrusi 15:54, 8 June 2011 (EDT)

- Actually, I have long thought that the two Smokescreens should be merged. The fact that the two Sky Highs are shown separate in IDW would keep them separate pages. Unless other fiction showed that they were the same in some universes. --Khajidha 15:46, 8 June 2011 (EDT)
Honestly I think it's clear they are different characters....HUGE difference in size...no mention of any martial arts skills in the toy bio of the smaller one....One is a very large battle copter and the other is an extremely tiny one person helicopter that triple changes into a gun weapon. Not to mention they are completely different colors, and simply couldn't look more different from one another. I think it would be a huge mistake merging these two as they are clearly not the same character. 99.64.126.254 05:43, 16 June 2011 (EDT)
- Yeah, That's all tiny superficial stuff that means nothing. See Backfire (TF 2010). It doesn't trump our usual rule "Same name, same faction, same continuity, no contradictions = same character". It's just Occum's Razor unless the's any significant reason to believe them different guys. --76.28.76.206 06:16, 16 June 2011 (EDT)
I'm pretty sure he's intended to be the same guy. His tech spec numbers are identical to Movie Whirl from the TRU 2-pack- Strength: 8, Intelligence: 6, Speed: 6, Endurance: 8, Rank: 8, Courage: 7, Fireblast: 5, Skill: 10. Identical on both.--MCRG 15:26, 26 June 2011 (EDT)
- Well, since we DID previously use identical tech spec numbers to connect dump-truck Payload and the older toy, I for one would be fine with using the same justification for Whirl. --Apoc 15:40, 26 June 2011 (EDT)
- Bing-Bing-Bing! We have a winner. Someone (working on a beter platform from me) merge 'em! --76.28.76.206 16:20, 26 June 2011 (EDT)
