From everything I've read, use in fiction is paramount to this wiki's POV. And we give first English name use priority to Japanese names. Plus, the gallery provides links to the original release, so you get all relevant info on the page.

This is an article that's about the actual toys, which were sold as the same characters and considered as such for more than a decade. AVP's repurposing doesn't override that this is an article about a series of toys and the implicit fiction that existed long before it. Saix (talk) 15:22, 15 July 2015 (EDT)

Move

After some discussion with Monzo, I'm convinced that エクスディメンションズ was intended to be "Exdimensions". Two reasons for this: The Yearbook describes エクスディメンションズ as a coined term meaning "inhabitant of another dimension" (別次元の住人), not a place in itself. Thus, in "Exdimensions Micron", it's acting as an adjective indicating their origin as inhabitants of a parallel world, like "extraterrestrial". Secondly, it's ekusu (エクス), indicating a plain Latin/English "ex" as used in words like extra and extreme, not ekkusu (エックス), the standard transliteration for the English letter X. There's no Romanization of the term on Takara material, so X-Dimensions (originally "X-Dimension", as nobody caught on to the plural for whatever reason till I pointed it out years ago) is a misinterpretation of the original katakana. I would agree but AVP and Andromeda use "X-Dimensions". Obviously they got the translations from here/wherever the original translation came from, but wouldn't that make "X-Dimensions" the "English" version used in most official fiction now? Is there any use of "X-" outside of AVP and Andromeda, though? We could just treat their usage of "X-" like how we treat the 2006 IDW Beast Wars names of Japanese-original characters and concepts (e.g. - "Cohrada", "Gaea", "Blendtron", "Elephorca", "Autocrasher", etc.), as I'm sure that the authors of AVP/Andromeda had no deliberate intention of renaming/Westernizing the name of this Mini-Con subline. --Sabrblade (talk) 08:49, 7 February 2021 (EST)
