Chasing another Legendisc in the past, Isami and the Samurai Team encounter Ryōma Sakamoto and discover that he's kind of a dick...
Synopsis
[edit]Isami practices Kendo with his grandfather. He wins easily, and confesses that he thinks the red legendisc has been making him stronger since he started wearing it around his neck. His grandfather tells him that he shouldn't fear the power of the disc as long as he understands that it's the disc that's making him strong. Back at the base, Optimus Prime tells the Swordbot Samurai Team that it's only a matter of time before Dragotron revives, and that they must do whatever they can to retrieve the remaining legendiscs. Isami's legendisc glows and tells them that there is another connection spot near the Cybertron Satellite in Ginza. They arrive, and are immediately transported back in time. They see two opponents dueling on a beach with practice swords. One man defeats the other, and then continues to attack him. Isami steps in to tell the victor that he shouldn't attack people when they're down and is surprised to learn that the victor is Ryōma Sakamoto, a man known in the future for his chivalry. Isami asks Ryōma if he has a disc like his, and Ryōma produces the green legendisc. Isami tells Ryōma that he needs the green legendisc to help him save the future, but Ryōma replies that the disc has made him into an invincible swordsman and that he will not give it up. He decides Isami just wants both legendiscs to make himself strong, but Isami insists that he wants to use the power to protect humanity and the Earth. Ryōma refuses to believe that anyone could want such power to help others, and challenges Isami to a duel with the winner receiving both legendiscs. They start to fight, but Budora and Bakudora appear and attack, causing the Samurai Team to make their appearance.
Bakudora summons the Jaki from sand, and the Samurai Team dispatches them quickly. Bakudora warns the Samurai Team not to be overconfident, though, and tells them that they've powered up the Jaki. He orders them to perform their Black Jaki Combination. The Jaki combine into Black Goradora and display incredible power. Bakudora takes the opportunity to try to retrieve the green legendisc from Ryōma, but Isami steps in to protect him. A terrified Ryōma asks Isami why he isn't afraid, but Isami replies that he is but that he must protect the legendiscs at all cost. Finally believing Isami, Ryōma gives him the green legendisc and asks Isami to promise to protect the world from the Predacons. Isami agrees, and uses the green legendisc to order the Samurai to combine. The Samurai Team combines into GoGanoh and defeats the new Black Goradora. Realizing they're defeated once again, the Predacons try to take the two legendiscs from Isami, knocking him over and causing him to drop the green legendisc. GoGanoh steps in to defend Isami, attacking Budora and Bakudora. As with their last time slip, there is a flash of light and the Samurai Team finds themselves back in the present sans the green legendisc. They speculate about why they've been returned to the present just before retrieving a legendisc once again, and Jinbu wonders whether the legendiscs might be causing it. In the past, Ryouma notices that his disc has disappeared along with Isami and the Samurai Team, and swears to become strong to protect humanity and the Earth just like Isami.

[edit]- One of the buildings the team drives past to reach the spot the Legendisc indicates has the word "BURBERRY" written on it, but the text is mirrored.
Continuity errors
[edit]- For some reason, Budora's right eye is repaired, even though it was damaged by Musashi in the previous episode.
Transformers references
[edit]- Isami says that the Legendisc connection spot featured in this episode is "near the Cybertron Satellite in Ginza". This makes the first appearance of a Cybertron Satellite in Transformers fiction. The Autobot Commander assigned to the district of Ginza is Ginza Prime.
Real-world references
