- Unlike subsequent volumes which feature the cover of the lead story on the front and the cover of the second story on the back, the cover art for Transformers Comic Digest #3 are reversed. The cover for Issue #6 is depicted on the front, and the cover for issue #5 is depicted on the back. This is in fact a terrific bonus for fans, as it provided to this point the clearest picture of M.D. Bright's celebrated covershot of Shockwave from issue #5.
- The first seven profiles are formatted differently, with the artwork mixed among the text biography. Unlike those found in the first two Magazine issues, these nine profiles are textually identical to the four part Transformers Universe limited series.
- The house advertisement for Captain America marks the first time that a non-Hasbro/Star title is mentioned in the Transformers Comic Magazine. Its inclusion changes the manner in which the remaining profiles for Scrapper and Red Alert are formatted, with the text biography printed on the right hand page and the corresponding character art reprinted on the reverse page.
- Curiously, unlike the profile of fellow Dinobot Swoop, the profiles for both Slag and Sludge correctly notes their first appearance as Transformers #4.
- Still no profile for Megatron.
