Marvel The Transformers comics

Tony appeared exclusively in the UK portion of the Marvel Comics continuity.

Tony, Rick and Joy travelled to Littlewood, California for what seemed to be a pointless assignment. That assessment was corrected when they came face to face with a metal dinosaur. The three frightened the creature off at first, but Joy's solo pursuit earned her its trust. Tony and Rick were concerned about her safety, but she told them she was fine and that they should stay with the van to wait for her return. All three were subsequently attacked by the Decepticons, who were after Sludge, but survived the encounter. Dinobot Hunt!

Due to the experience, they knew Robot-Master was a fake. Joy set out to collect evidence against him, was nearly killed by the government for it, but saved by the Dinobots. The Dinobots were willing to help her against Robot-Master by participating in an interview, so Joy called Tony and Rick to assist her. Fearing the call would be tapped and her colleagues followed, she only told them to "expect the unexpected", having arranged for Swoop to pick them up in Portland. This still didn't prevent Tony and Rick getting targeted by the Decepticons, who also had an interest in maintaining the Robot-Master story. Swoop and surprise-ally Centurion saved them, but Swoop got a serious thrashing. Tony figured out the Dinobot was what Joy had referred to as "the unexpected", making the two men really worried when he remained KO for quite some time. When eventually he got up, they rushed back into their van and had Swoop fly them off to Talon's Point. Once there, they and Joy set up everything for a proper video interview, but then the Decepticons appeared. Tony and Rick hid what material they already had obtained and stood back alongside Joy as the Transformers began fighting.

It seemed that the Decepticons were losing. However, Soundwave snuck near and gave the humans a choice: their story or their lives. They chose the former. Soundwave destroyed the footage, notes and audio interviews in front of everyone, driving home what would happen if they continued their attempt to unmask Robot-Master. The Decepticons left with that, having sufficiently scared the humans into giving up their story. In the National Interest Prowl and Optimus Prime arrived a little later at the former battle site. Neither the humans nor the Dinobots wanted to tell them what had happened. Target: 2006
