Transformers: Battle Masters is a third person fighting mobile game developed by lm/nl, released in late 2014. The game is based on the Battle Masters toyline.

Gameplay

[edit]

The game is played from a third person perspective.

The game has three difficulty settings, "easy", "medium" and "hard".

Which fist is being used or from/towards which side an action is being performed depends on which side of the screen the player is touching. If the left side of the screen is touched, the action performed will correspond to the left side and the same thing with the right side. Tapping either side of the screen once will make the character throw a jab. To throw a hook, the player needs to quickly slide their finger from either side towards the center of the screen. Sliding one's finger from either side of the bottom screen to the top will make the character throw an uppercut. To block, the player needs to put and hold two fingers close to the center of the screen from either side at the same time. To dodge attacks, the player needs to tap the left or right dodge buttons on either side of the bottom screen.

Each character has an Energon meter under their healthbar. This meter decreases as a punch is thrown, though it slowly fills back on its own. The character becomes "dazed" if the meter is spent, which makes them unable to do anything but dodge or block incoming attacks until the meter gets completely filled back.

Hyper meter allows the characters to go to Hyper Mode when the meter is completely filled. When the meter is filled, the player needs to tap the player character icon next to the healthbar to activate the Hyper Mode. The Hyper Mode makes the characters invincible. In this mode, landing subsequent punches to build the character's special attack meter under a short amount of time and then immediately tapping the special attack button will allow for special attacks to be performed. Each special attack is unique to the character, barring variants of the same character.

In a match, there are minimum two and maximum three rounds. If a character wins two rounds consequently, they win the match. If one character wins the first round, and the other the second, the winner is determined with a third round.

There are three different gameplay modes;

  • How to Play: This mode is essentially a tutorial where the player goes up against Practice Bot. The player is also given the option to freely spar with the Practice Bot in free play.
  • Quickplay: A mode where the player can freely choose the arena and the characters they play as and fight against.
  • Championship: Passing as the Campaign mode, this mode has 5 levels of championship the player can play in. Each of the tournaments correspond to different belts, a list of which is given below.

Upgrades and objectives

[edit]

The player initially starts with two characters, Bumblebee and Starscream, but they can unlock more as they win matches. The players can also use the [[wikipedia:{{#if:|:}}QR code|{{#if:||QR code}}]] gained from the Battle Masters toys to battle and unlock their bot.

The objective of the game is to win each of the tournaments that corresponds to a specific belt.

The belts are as follow;
