Transformers: Revenge of the Fallen Electronic Voice Changer {{#if: |
The Transformers: Revenge of the Fallen Electronic Voice Changer was released to tie-in with the Revenge of the Fallen film. The gimmick is that the "Electronic Voice Changer" can be used to "sound like a Transformer" as one reads the book. The device also features buttons to produce sound effects.
In Shanghai. China, Sideswipe has teamed up with N.E.S.T. soldiers to track down and stop Sideways. After a brief confrontation, Sideswipe blasts his adversary.
Meanwhile, in America, Sam Witwicky prepares to leave for college, eager to start a life, unconnected with the Transformers' war. As he puts away his things, Sam finds a fragment of the AllSpark. When he touches it, the fragment fills his mind with bizarre symbols. It then burns a hole into his room's floor and lands in the kitchen. The AllSpark fragment animates several appliances, who proceed to chase Sam outside. Bumblebee comes to Sam's rescue and dispatches the AllSpark Mutations. Unfortunately, Bumblebee destroys part of Sam's house in the process. Sam informs Bumblebee that he can't take him to College, and that Bumblebee should return to his own kind. Bumblebee agrees, stating that Sam should find his place among his own species as well. However, soon after the semester begins, Bumblebee comes to fetch Sam, telling him that Optimus Prime has requested his presence.
In Shanghai, the battle against the Decepticons continues. Optimus and Ironhide fight Demolisher on a highway. When Demolisher goes down, he utters weakly: "The Fallen shall rise again."
Later, Sam meets Optimus in a quiet wooded area. Optimus explains that the Decepticons have stolen a fragment of the AllSpark. Additionally, some government officials are beginning to lose trust in the Autobots. Optimus pleads with Sam to stand with them, but Sam refuses, whining that he simply wants to resume his college life.
Later still, Sam and Mikaela are driving in Bumblebee, when they are captured by a Decepticon chopper. The group is brought before Megatron, who plans to forcefully remove the knowledge of the AllSpark from Sam's brain. Before Megatron can do so, Optimus bursts in and gives Sam and Mikaela the opening they need to escape.
Megatron is joined by Starscream and the Decepticon chopper, and all three Decepticons battle Optimus at once. Though Optimus eliminates the chopper quickly, he is overwhelmed by the remaining two Decepticons, and is gravely wounded. On Optimus's orders, Bumblebee takes Mikaela and Sam and flees.
In order to decipher the symbols that plague his mind, Sam and Mikaela go see Jetfire. Jetfire explains that the symbols tell of how the war between the Autobots and Decepticons began. Jetfire details how the Ancients built the Matrix of Leadership and a great machine that could destroy suns to collect their raw Energon. When The Fallen attempted to break one of the Ancients' rule by harvesting Earth's Sun, the others turned on him. The Fallen slaughtered all of the Ancients save one, who hid away the Matrix beneath the sands of Egypt. The Fallen is now returning to Earth, planning to use the Matrix to extinguish Earth's sun.
Jetfire transports Sam and Mikaela to Egypt. Five Constructicons happen upon the group and combine into Devastator. Luckily, Autobot reinforcements have already been sent to help out Sam. Skids and Mudflap defeat Devastator together. Megatron then joins the battle and blasts Sam, knocking him out. While unconscious, Sam has a vision of the Ancients, who tell him that he has been deemed worthy of the Matrix. When Sam awakens, the Matrix is in his hand. Though Optimus is still weak from his previous battle, the army has brought him along to Egypt to help fight the Decepticons. Sam plugs the Matrix into Optimus Prime's chest, healing his injuries.
Though Optimus helps in the fight against the Decepticons, the Fallen uses his powers to teleport the Matrix out of Sam's hand. Optimus (now combined with Jetfire) destroys the Fallen's machine with a single blow. The energy surge that flows out of the machine dazes the remaining Decepticons, allowing the Autobots to easily defeat them. With the Matrix safely back in Optimus's possession, the Autobot leader thanks Sam for helping the Autobots save the Earth once again!
The book splices the movie's narrative in a strange way, making it appear as though the battle against the Decepticons in Shanghai lasts for an extended period of time, rather than a brief confrontation. Additionally, since several characters and scenes are cut out altogether, some actions are attributed to different characters.
