Have yourself a very Dead End Christmas...
The Nightmare Bee-4 Christmas
[edit]- Script: Simon Furman
- Art: Jon Davis-Hunt
- Colours: Hi-Fi Design
- Lettering: Den Patrick
- Continuity: Revenge of the Fallen (sequel)
It's Christmas Eve at the Witwicky house, and Sam has allowed Bumblebee to secretly observe the festivities. He's sure he'll regret this, more than he regrets having to put up with his father's obsessive like for Christmas and determination to keep the Santa Claus myth going. But while Sam tries to make sure Bumblebee stays out of sight, the monstrous Dead End is nearing the house in search for SPARE... PARTS!
As he heads to bed, Sam is bemused to find his dad has left sherry and cookies out for Santa and worries about the Autobot's emulating Ron's version of the holiday. That's when Mojo the dog starts to growl, and the lad notices the shadowy form of a Transformer outside. Sam, thinking this is Bumblebee breaking cover, decides to go out and berate him, and this brings a terrible fate on him: his parents think he's up because he's excited by the holiday, and Ron Witwicky decides to dress as Santa next year! Oh, and Dead End tries to murder Sam.
Luckily, Bumblebee intervenes. While the Decepticon revenant tries to carve out and devour Bumblebee's parts, Sam pleads with the Autobot to try and keep the battle quiet; Bumblebee merrily plays Christmas carols through the battle, and the sounds of the Transformers ramming each other is mistaken for sleigh bells by a sleepy Ron. Dead End finally pins him and rips out his impact buffer, but Bumblebee fights back with a highly powerful laser blast from his optics. The Decepticon falls: "LIGHTS OUT".
Next morning, the Witwicky's are confused to find some extra presents from "B": car wax for Judy and decals for Sam. Sam sneaks off to deliver his present to Bumblebee, bought on advice from Ratchet. Yep, spare parts!

Quotes
[edit]"I haven't believed in Santa since that night you snuck in my room. You tripped over my train set and landed on me - in full costume! I thought Santa Claus was trying to suffocate me!"
- —Sam Witwicky
"That's it. Next year, I'm dressing up."
- —Ron Witwicky
"<when a poor man came in sight...>"
"TRACTION BEARING --"
"<...gathering winter fuel!>"
"-- ACCUMULATE!"
- —Bumblebee and Dead End sum up D.E's motive
"Hey, Dad, thanks for the iPad. Just what I wanted!"
"No, really? You've only been hinting since April."
"And Mom, thanks for the briefs. I think."
- —Sam and Ron
Errors
[edit]- Ratchet removed Dead End's regeneration circuit back in #11, saving Dead End from decaying and his need to eat people. Is Ratchet actually crap at medicine?
- Dead End's next appearance has him completely fine, and then turning back into a revenant before he starts tracking Bumblebee down. It seems like the stories got swapped around.
Notes
[edit]- This is the first Christmas story in a UK Transformers comic in twenty one years!
- Ron has put three Christmas trees in one room. My god.
- Dead End specifically identifies Sam and Bumblebee as targets. Whether he can actually regenerate by eating humans or just thinks it's worth a go, we dunno.
- Judy Witwicky still won't let Bumblebee near the house.

Law and Disorder
[edit]"An original question! I thought I was seeing things when I opened this letter... is it possible the humans have actually started... thinking?!"
- —Barricade
"I'll let you tell Starscream he's not in our league, Ironhide. I think it will sound better coming from you, rather than me. And I don't want to end up as spare parts."
- —Barricade
Notes
[edit]- Ironhide thinks Animated Bulkhead is the type of bot he can get behind!
- We not only have a Bulkhead fanart, but one from a kid that seems to be Wasp.
- The name of this story is, of course, derived from the popular Tim Burton film The Nightmare Before Christmas.
