"Yeeeaahh, sooo, I'm going to need you to go ahead and come in on Saturday. If you could go ahead and show up by 9, that'd be greeeeaaaat."
Trypticon is a Mercenary from the Cyberverse continuity family.

Trypticon doesn't like to think of himself as the "boss" of the Mercenaries, goodness no. That feels too corporate-y. The Mercenaries are more like a family! And families are open to working unpaid overtime and weekends, right? We're a team! A team that feels like a friendly, informal work environment, so long as you work inerrantly. And by inerrantly, we also mean going the extra mile. That's what teams and families do. We here at the Team Family Mercenaries expect results. Oh, you had a problem? You're fired. You're all fired. You don't get to use the foosball table in lieu of salary anymore.

Boss isn't really an accurate description. I think of myself more as a firm yet fair employer, who expects nothing less than dedicated employees who will always do their best.

Trypticon and his Mercenaries would travel from planet to planet, freezing their populations using a time blaster. His employees would then ransack the planet, stealing all the inhabitants' valuables, before Trypticon would emerge from the ship and go on a rampage, utterly destroying the planet.

The group decided to do the same to Cybertron at Soundblaster's suggestion, time-locking the planet before heading down to the surface. When Soundblaster and his team reported a "big score" at the signing of the Treaty of the Wall, Trypticon gave them the go-ahead to start looting. However, the Mercenaries' efforts were thwarted by Grimlock and the Dinobots, survivors of another planet Trypticon had destroyed. Displeased by their failure, Trypticon emerged from the ship and promptly fired the other Mercenaries, offering the vacant position to the Dinobots as he prepared to raze Cybertron to the ground. The Dinobots formed Volcanicus and engaged Trypticon in battle, but they were completely overwhelmed by his size and power. They managed to down him with a blow to the neck, prompting a full retreat from the other Mercenaries, but Trypticon quickly recovered and split the combiner back into its components. As he chased down the fleeing Dinobots, Trypticon rescinded his job offer and attempted to crush them, only for the reformed Volcanicus to shoot him with his own time blaster, leaving him completely immobile. In the aftermath, a small park and shopping center were erected around Trypticon's frozen body, dubbed "Trypticon Plaza". Unfortunately, the plaza's dedication was interrupted by the crash-landing of Astrotrain, and it later served as the site of several battles during the Decepticon supersoldiers' invasion of Cybertron. Notes

[edit]
  • Trypticon is the only Cyberverse Mercenary with a unique character model, with all the others made by recycling the models of existing characters in the show.
