In the ever-expanding brand of Transformers, there are times where fans would like to go back and revisit some childhood memories by collecting some of the toys that they had grown up with and sometimes even the toys they never had! But wait a minute, there's just one issue: why does this original "Generation 1" Optimus Prime on eBay cost so much? And why does it have no tires or trailer? Collecting old childhood toys isn't going to be fun at all, is it? This is where reissues come in handy! As time goes by, those original toys you grew up with are likely to either be in bad shape or cost an awful amount of money due to inflation, the condition of the toy and whether it's a highly sought after piece or not.

I'm not married to this loose draft of an intro, but I thought a jokey opening might make the article kinda fun.

Stand alone reissues and reissue toylines

[edit]

Generation 1

[edit]
Thinking of also adding times Hasbro and Takara reissued certain toys in the late 80s, the 90s and the 00s too.

Many of the original Generation 1 Transformers toys have been reissued several times.

Beast Wars

Car Robots

Toys that will likely never be reissued

[edit]
A section about toys that will likely never be reissued due to broken/lost molds, cost of making new molds, and the rights to a mold like Shockwave or Jetfire not being available to Hasbro or Takara. This section will loosely tie into the next.

Unofficial reissues

[edit]
Main article: Knockoff
Main article: IP infringement
A section on the topic of the various Chinese companies that have made good-quality KOs that act as "unofficial reissues" and including the fact that they have made new molds for figures like Wheeljack and Sunstreaker which may never see an official reissue. Maybe even throw in a thing about how they try to pass themselves off as official products by entirely replicating original packaging, trademarks and copyrights.
