"Did I fall asleep?" "For a little while."

Dreams (sometimes visions or hallucinations) are images perceived in unconscious states. These may take the form of fantastic vision quests, or nightmarish representations of one's worst fears.

Some technologies enable one to view or manipulate the dreams of others.

Events from the UK-only comic stories are in italics.

When Skids's windshield was shattered he was knocked unconscious and experienced a dream in which he died due to his refusal to attack Megatron and save Charlene. Showdown!

The injured and unconscious Dinobots were taken to the Ark, where Ratchet repaired their bodies, but as Ratchet explained to Optimus the Dinobots were trapped in their dreams. Ratchet worried that their psychological flaws may have been keeping them in a loop which prevented them from awakening. In their dreams, the Dinobots battle various droids and Decepticons, however Sludge dreamt that while sharing a tender moment with human journalist Joy Meadows in a swamp she horrifically peeled away her face to reveal herself as a robot under Megatron's control and shot him with eye beams. Victory!

Buster Witwicky dreamt that he fled from Shockwave across a burning wasteland. The Autobots could not help, as Shockwave cut them down. A giant Autobot unknown to Buster appeared and blasted Shockwave, but the newcomer's victory was short-lived, as a giant, unfamiliar Decepticon appeared to attack him. While the two giant robots fought, Buster tried to get away, but found his path blocked by five more Decepticons who 'merged together' to become another giant!

Buster woke in the Ark, where Jesse, Sparkplug, and the Autobots are all by his bedside. After they calmed Buster down, Sparkplug blamed Optimus Prime and the Creation Matrixwhich had been temporarily in Buster's mind. Optimus Prime is sure that Buster's "nightmare" is not an affliction, but a message from the Matrix, which he believes the Autobots can decipher if Buster will let them reach into his mind. Buster agreeed, and he and Prime were hooked up to a machine that would enable the Autobot leader to join Buster in his dreams.

At the Wyoming coal mine that served as Megatron's current hideaway, Soundwave brought news of the Matrix message within Buster's mind. Megatron quickly ordered Soundwave to return to Shockwave so that he can learn the secrets of the message. Soundwave went, arriving just in time to watch as Shockwave used the machine he previously employed to drain the Matrix from Optimus Prime's mind to remotely tap into Buster's mind. The Decepticons observed as Buster's dream unfolded...

In the dream-world, Buster and Optimus Prime watched as a group of five new Autobots named the Protectobots evacuated a power plant. When Blades spoted what he believed to be a group of human vehicles heading towards the plant, the Protectobots moved to head them off, only to find that they were not humans, but the Decepticon Stunticons. Through his holo-viewer, Shockwave marveled as the Stunticons combined into Menasor a combination Shockwave preceived as superior to the Constructicons' Devastator. Shockwave's own 'dream' of Decepticons mastering combiner technology even more efficiently was cut short, when the Protectobots revealed that they too possessed the same power, and merged into Defensor!

Menasor and Defensor grappled, and the Autobot combiner was soon outnumbered when the Combaticons arrives and formed Bruticus. Fortunately, the giant Autobot he previously saw defeat Menasor joined the fray: Superion, combined form of the Aerialbots! The flaws of combiner technology proved to be the Decepticons' downfall: Menasor ordered his arm to fire his gun, but the limb objected to being given orders, delaying in pulling the trigger just enough for Superion to dodge the blast, causing it to hit Bruticus. While Defensor stomped the fallen Bruticus into unconsciousness, Menasor tried to flee, but the ground beneath his feet crumbled away thanks to a blast from Superion's stress fracture cannon. Before the two victorious Autobot combiners could take the defeated Decepticons into custody, an emergency summons from Optimus Prime called them back to the Ark, which was under attack. Forced to leave the Decepticons behind, they separated into their component Autobots to roll out, as Buster's dream came to an end and he and Prime woke up.

Soon after, Soundwave reported the news of the "Special Teams" to Megatron. Second Generation!

Mirage dreamt he was injured, looking in a mirror, and was disturbed that in the dream he was an Autobot?

Decepticon Mirage woke and made a deal with Megatron over comms, bargaining for a share in Megatron's energon mining operations.

In the Pegasus Star Cluster, the Autobots were out of energon, but Hound was working with Zodiac energy, which had cross-dimensional properties. 'Bumblebee' bypassed the security perimeter, and once inside blasted the security system, revealing himself as Mirage in disguise. His fellow Decepticons then rushed in and battled the Autobots. Mirage took Jetfire hostage, saying that he would spare Jetfire's life if the Autobots surrendered. Under initial protest by Hound, Optimus Prime surrendered after Mirage guaranteed the safety of the others.

Mirage contacted Megatron again to inform him they had taken Autobot prisoners of war. Megatron told Mirage he must kill the Autobot prisoners or he wouldn't get paid. Mirage prepared to spear Hound, Optimus Prime reminded Mirage of his conflict when he joined the Decepticons and how Hound and Mirage had been friends before the war. Angered, Mirage killed Hound, enraging Prime, who ran at Mirage, sending him crashing into the Zodiac energy chamber.
