User:LIVRONIPEPPRONI/The Twain Phenomenon

The Twain Phenomenon is a term that refers to the splitting of a character via pulling or ripping into two seperate pieces. Characters who are cut or broken into several pieces do not fall under this definition. While this may seem like a trivial distinction, this specific form of execution has proven to be oddly prevalent in Transformers media, having appeared across multiple continuities and becoming something of an unintentional running gag.

[edit]In an attempt to delay Megatron during the climactic Battle of Mission City, Jazz bravely faced the chrome marauder alone despite being significantly outmatched in size and strength. During the latter half of their brutal scuffle, Jazz defiantly inquired whether Megatron wanted "a piece" of him. The Decepticon tyrant responded to this taunt by literally tearing the smaller bot into two separate halves, pulling him apart from the waist. It can be assumed that the joke was lost on Jazz, who died from Megatrons bout of physical comedy before he could appreciate the irony of his own words. Transformers

After a quick examination of Megatron's broken body, Scalpel expressed the need for some spare parts to replace the ones destroyed in the battle of Mission City. Some sources say that Scrapmetal was then torn into two by Long Haul for spare parts. This is a disputed instance, however, as the smallest constructicon can be seen ripped into multiple pieces almost immediatly after. Revenge of the Fallen

Optimus Prime led a team including Ironhide and Warpath to rescue Omega Supreme from Decepticon captivity outside the Omega Gate. The Decepticons had been torturing the giant Autobot and corrupting him with Dark Energon. After Ratchet began repairing Omega Supreme, the group was attacked by Decepticon reinforcements including a Destroyer. Having regained enough functionality, Omega Supreme casually ripped the attacking Destroyer into two pieces via a magnetic pull and good-old rocket hand to the back. Transformers: War for Cybertron
