Random trivia relating to the Dinobots

• G1 Grimlock was potentially the last time in pop culture that the classical T.rex design was considered accurate, as later on in the 1980's, palaeontologists were introduced to Deinonychus, the discovery of which began what is known as the Dinosaur Rennissance. When Beast Wars rolled around, Grimlock was a remold of Dinobot, and thus was a Velociraptor. In a amusing turn of events, one year after the 10th anniversary of Beast Wars in 2006, Velociraptor were confirmed to have bird-like pennaceous feathers on their arms in 2007.
• While people will harp about Swoop being a Dinobot, it's actually much more acceptable to place pterosaurs as dinosaurs then one of Grimstone's drones; which is clearly a Dimetrodon. That genus is a synapsid, which diverged from the diapsids that dinosaurs spawned from 308 million years ago, during the Carboniferous period. Pterosaurs, however, only diverged from dinosaurs about 228 million years ago during the Late Triassic. Grouping a Dimetrodon in with the Dinobots is basically like grouping a human in with cougars.
