In this sandbox, I'm drafting an FAQ section that distils all the conclusions people have come to over on the community portal into a set of easily accessible and categorised answers. It's mainly style guide and policy stuff, which is currently covered on the main help pages.

Many of these questions didn't even get a conclusive answer in the discussions at the time, which means I'll need to trawl around on style guides and pre-existing pages to find them. I don't like the way the help pages are organised at all, but I won't talk about why exactly now. Basically I've just been having trouble getting to grips with it all.

If you want to help out by conclusively answering any of the questions below, feel free to do so. Appropriate links to relevant portal archives are welcomed. I'm working through the archives when I have time and adding relevant questions and answers below.

How do I revert a change?

The wikipedia page on reverting is something that most people should read, so you know how to put things back to how they were.

Should I use a category or a list?

We don't like lists here. Users are encouraged to use categories for organising pages and information.

Disc or Disk?

Wikipedia has an article about this. Most disks in Transformers media are spelt 'disk', so that's what we're going with unless the source material explicitly says otherwise.

Does the wiki cover the prices of Transformers toys, either original or aftermarket?

Not really, but the size class page has some prices listed.

Where are the Tech Specs?

Toys are usually linked to their TFU.info page, which also archives Tech Specs. They shouldn't be included directly on the wiki, but remember to reference them if they're the only place a particular piece of information came from.

Do we archive or include control drawings in our pages?

Unless the control art is particularly unique or has some interesting information (like the spark figure on TM2 Megatron), no.

How often should I link to other pages?

Link if it's the first time in that page section you've linked to that article. In particularly long sections, it can be helpful to link once every couple of screens.

What toy photos should I use?

If the official photos aren't mistransformed and don't have different paint apps, then use those. If they are, then you might want to include them anyway with a note saying what's wrong with them. Failing that, take your own. If you don't have the toy or the proper equipment, take the photo from somewhere like Seibertron.com.

Where do I include home media releases of Transformers cartoons and movies?

Both on the page for that cartoon/movie and on the page for the company that released the DVD.

How do I mention accessories at the beginning of toy entries?

There should be a list at the beginning of every toy entry. Refer to them using the names they are referred to in the instructions or packaging of the toy. Failing that, use the names of those weapons or accessories in fiction. Failing that, just make something up or see what TFU.info calls them.

Where do I include pages for knockoffs and third party toys?

We don't talk about those. Unless, like with that one MTMTE cover or the Earth Wars Predacons, they get referenced by official media - in which case they should be referenced in the notes section of a page.

How do I title comic issue pages?

With the title of the story itself. Retain all punctuation from that title. If there is no title in the story proper, use the title from the copyright text of that issue. Failing that, just do the name of the series followed by 'issue X'.
