Blackout may have seemed a bit harsh, but it's born of long, bitter experience. We just have so many people jumping in here purely to add funny captions (which, more often than not, simply aren't that funny), that the above template has become an almost automatic response to anyone who tries to make captions very soon after starting here. We require new arrivals to build up at least a modest log of serious, substantial edits—say, about a page's worth on their User Contributions page, before they get to The Funny. It gives them time to acclimate to the way the wiki works in terms of grammar, spelling, accuracy and so forth, as well as to learn which jokes have been overused, how sophisticated/juvenile the humor can be, etc.

Your Allspark Almanac II edits are appreciated, to be sure. Just build up a few more good edits like those, and you'll be all set.--Apcog 10:59, 8 March 2011 (EST)
