Why is it you're removing those links from the coverage of Optimus Prime (Prime)'s Japanese toys? They were originally added by M Sipher when he added the toy writeups. --abates 22:15, 12 November 2012 (EST)

Because we don't have links to every random fansite for every random TF, no matter who added them or when. If ItsWalky decided every page should link to a BWTF review, that would be just as out of place. --Buttbutt 00:04, 13 November 2012 (EST)
Perhaps you should mention that to him then? --abates 01:23, 13 November 2012 (EST)

A couple of things...

[edit]

You're still trying to remove those toy blog links. Please stop to discuss it with whoever added those first before continuing. Also, while your user page is practically uneditable by anyone but you, a user's talk page is public, meaning you can't remove whatever notices and messages are there unless it's rather obvious vandalism. Finally, it is not helpful to remove links leading to specific sections of other articles. It is more helpful and specific to link Cyberverse Bulkhead to the toy in question, rather than having to scroll through his trying to page find it. Inkblot 19:48, 7 January 2013 (EST)

I've blanked my talk page plenty of times before - once the discussion has been over for a few weeks and thus serves no further purpose. But I don't mind leaving things if that's the way people want it. That said, I don't feel the need to discuss removing needless outside links with anyone; the entire point of having a wiki rather than a static page is that it's up to all of us to keep it tuned up. If someone is insistent that they be there, they can add them back in - and no, not in an "undo this edit" way, either. That's a kneejerk reaction, not actual consideration of the content. Finally, not every link to a specific section is better than a link to the actual page: you find them helpful and specific, I find them an annoying impediment. --Buttbutt 20:49, 7 January 2013 (EST)
It is up for discussion when one of the mods the one adding those "needless links". --Detour 20:53, 7 January 2013 (EST)
TFWiki has good moderators: I doubt he expects special consideration based simply on the job title. He's adding links as a user, not moderating them, and he understood that another user might remove them. --Buttbutt 21:05, 7 January 2013 (EST)
In part, it's giving credit where credit is due, because some put as much work into what they wrote as we do here. Another part is that we can only put up so much information before it becomes too much, be it too much for even the most basic of computers to process or it becomes a very long article. And if you feel that certain links are "annoying impediment[s]", ask about it first at the discussion pages. --Lonegamer78 00:02, 8 January 2013 (EST)
Yes, lots do: and like I said before, we don't link to every single one of them. The few we do are similarly archival in nature, not "bloggy" (for lack of a more elegant term). --Buttbutt 02:23, 9 January 2013 (EST)
