Judgement screw-up thing

[edit]

I wanted to clear my talk page because it was crowded and hideous. It contained, in short, Interrobang calling me on a violation I made. I tried to change all of the judgement spellings on the wiki to judgment, like an oaf, and Interrobang made me aware of the etiquette that I previously had ignored. I reverted my own edits to set things right by learning my lesson. Fiction Alchemist 04:41, 20 March 2009 (EDT)

Just a heads-up.

[edit]

A lot of the pages you're de-wikia-fying were actually redirects prior to the Great Bookworm Screwup Of March. Might be a good idea to look back and make sure the pages you fixed up hadn't been moved elsewhere between June 2008 and March 2009. I don't really feel like going through all your contributions and doing it on my own here. --Detour 20:21, 24 March 2009 (EDT)

I'd be happy to assist and oblige, but I'm sorry to say that I'm not understanding. Please explain this in better detail to me. Redirect prior to the virus? Redirects to what? What will happen/has happened due to my de-wikia-fying these pages? Fiction Alchemist 23:14, 24 March 2009 (EDT)
Well, redirects are how typing in or linking to [[Optimus Prime]] actually takes you to Optimus Prime (disambiguation). Now from June 2008 to March 2009... that's a long time. We've had new characters come along with the same names as old favorites, or general concensus has made a change in how we disambiguate things. So while we've been importing Google cache of our current articles, the pages that were now little more than redirects have been left as is, in their June 2008 status... so pages like [[Ratbat]] (which are supposed to redirect to Ratbat (G1) because of the addition of Ratbat (TransTech)) were now back to being as they were in June 2008 (ie, an article about G1 Ratbat). It's nice that you're trying to remove these linkbacks to Wikia, but we restored most of our pages using Google Cache (seems to me there are some D's, E's, N's, O's and P's missing, though...), so if you do find an article with a Wikia linkback, it might be a good idea to make sure it isn't a page intended to be a redirect or a deleted article. --Detour 23:40, 24 March 2009 (EDT)
Hmm. Thenm it goes like this, I figure: If the page isn't marked by, say, (G1) or (Energon) or the like, then I should check to be sure that page isn't going to be replaced by a redirect to a disambig. If the page is marked by (G1) etc, then I should just go ahead with pulling out the wikia links. Though, now I must know. What of the pages I removed the wikia link from that were redirects prior to the virus? Do I need to go back to them and do anything to them? Perhaps revert my edit? Oh, and thanks for the compliment. I'm not used to them. Just good to know that I'm doing something helpful... at least something like this until I manage to get around to taking photos of my collection for the wiki.
