Anyone willing to go trolling through patent listings? We seem to be missing those for several members of various combiner teams. Perhaps they can be found by cross referencing those we do have? --Khajidha 10:54, 13 September 2010 (EDT)

(possibly) BioTron (Micronauts)! --Khajidha 12:57, 13 September 2010 (EDT) Lion Force Voltron! --Khajidha 14:05, 13 September 2010 (EDT)

Don't know what this is, but I've got one in my box of older TFs at home. --Khajidha 13:16, 13 September 2010 (EDT)

I DO! I DO! That's a takara robo-block figure. They combine together like Legos to build larger stuff. They were sold in the US as ROBOTECH figures. I've got a ton of them! -ZacWilliam (not signed in)
Thanks Zac! --Khajidha 17:24, 13 September 2010 (EDT)

This is a great find! It's got more recent stuff on too, like the Optimus Prime battle rig blaster! --abates 15:06, 13 September 2010 (EDT)

Was this a GoBots or a TFs release? I think it was "My First Transformer", but I could be wrong. --Khajidha 19:42, 13 September 2010 (EDT)

GoBot. --Detour 22:13, 13 September 2010 (EDT)

These are the patents for the Masters of the Universe meteor people - 1 & 2. Yeah, they're only tangentially related, just demonstrating that this would work for other fandoms as well. --Khajidha 11:30, 15 September 2010 (EDT)

Leobreaker

[edit]

Might this be Leobreaker? Looks kinda like it to me. http://www.google.com/patents?id=__eZAAAAEBAJ&printsec=abstract&zoom=4#v=onepage&q&f=false

No. The company that filed this is Konami. And it doesn't look a thing like Leobreaker. At all. --Detour 15:13, 13 September 2010 (EDT)
FWIW, that's GunCaesar from the GranSazer toy line.--Apcog 18:44, 13 September 2010 (EDT)

GoBots

[edit]

Tank Fitor Loco Cy-Kill Cy-Kill again Turbo Psycho CopTur GoBots ride on Binoc

Why nothing later?

[edit]

It seems odd that we've found nothing later than the Monsterbots but nearly everything prior. Forgive my ignorance are these patents only made public after a certain amount of time? That might explain why there's nothing from the Pretender years or after? If not anyone have any idea why the info's so "Backheavy" chronologicly speaking? --76.28.76.206 07:47, 14 September 2010 (EDT)

I was wondering this too. If you search for Hasbro and then sort by date, it only lists 4 patents for all of 2009. Even the US Patent Office site only seems to return 5 results for Hasbro in 2009. --abates 08:29, 14 September 2010 (EDT)
Don't know. It could simply be that no one at the Patent Office has got around to posting them online. Let's not look a gift horse in the mouth, though. This is a simply amazing amount of data. --Khajidha 08:45, 14 September 2010 (EDT)
Out of curiousity have we started to do pages for the "inventors" and wich figures each created?
We may already have pages for some of these designers, if we don't we should make them. I'm planning on resorting this entire page following the checklists for each year, that way we can easily see what remains to be found. --Khajidha 10:42, 14 September 2010 (EDT)
While absentmindedly searching for Takio Ejima's designs, I found a Gravity Bot. That's pretty recent! --Apoc 05:49, 24 September 2010 (EDT)

What hasn't turned up is very interesting...

[edit]

No 1984 mini-vehicles, even though their 1986 retools have been found. Reflector is a no-show, but all the Microman Gun Robos and Egg Robos have been found. No Twin Twist or Whirl, even though Topspin and Roadbuster have been found. Oddly, Roadbuster and Jetfire are the only non-Takara TFs that have turned up (no Omega Supreme, Shockwave, Deluxe Insecticons or Sky Lynx). No "Movie" characters except Ultra Magnus, who is really the last of the Diaclone legacy characters. The 1988 line is represented by the combiner cassettes and one each of the Sparkabots, the Autobot Double Targetmasters and the Autobot Small Headmasters. Notably, 1988's Seacons are the only Scramble City style team NOT represented here. And then...nothing. --Khajidha 11:56, 17 September 2010 (EDT)

It is very odd and interesting how abruptly things stop appearing. One wonders if there's either a) a timeframe for release that has not passed or b)perhas at that point some new law changed or came into effect that altered how things were catagorized or something. The other posssibility is that it's an artifact of however the database was created. Some quirk of data entry at the place of downloading that's either left some out or lead to them all not yet being entered digitally? I don't know, I'd love to see the pretender concept or some such... --99.69.51.218 12:01, 17 September 2010 (EDT)

There's a ton more... 69.251.191.26 22:51, 18 September 2010 (EDT)

The scope is any TF you can find and identify. --Khajidha 00:21, 19 September 2010 (EDT)

Only US patents?

[edit]

A few years back people have been searching the Japanese and European patent offices and found more Transformers patents. Would these be of interest to you too? Then again, I'm not sure if they're accessible via Google Patents.--Nevermore 10:25, 26 October 2010 (EDT)

Bring 'em on. I'm using this sandbox as a central depository for these things as a resource for everyone. --Khajidha 10:34, 26 October 2010 (EDT)
I think the stuff was posted in an Allspark thread that fell victim to a database purge. Have to dig around.--Nevermore 10:40, 26 October 2010 (EDT)
Was just wondering if we should move this to another page, possibly a source page? Also, where should we link to this list from so that it is easily available to all of our editors? --Khajidha 10:47, 26 October 2010 (EDT)
Here's a guide, but the link in that news story is no longer valid, use this one. Not sure if it works the way it's intended to. Sadly, the long list with patent numbers (which would have made it a lot easier to find them) has been lost, though it's possible the Allspark thread still exists via the Wayback Machine.--Nevermore 10:55, 26 October 2010 (EDT)
Numbers I could find offhand:
1280748 Classics Ramjet
1280747 Classics Jetfire
1280738 Classics Starscream
1280735 Classics Optimus Prime
Type "S" into the small box and the number into the longer one.--Nevermore 10:57, 26 October 2010 (EDT)

Missing Sandbox

[edit]

Hey man! I was looking into your sandbox for your patients, but all the links are duds. Is this permanent. Tylerwu (talk) 08:57, 9 June 2021 (EDT)

I don't know. I haven't looked into the patents for a long time. If the site I linked to has moved them around, I'm not sure how to find them again. --Khajidha (talk) 10:11, 9 June 2021 (EDT)
