Years before 1984

[edit]

Don't you think they'd be a little minimal? I mean, most years will have one, maybe two births in it, so the only place they're likely to be linked is on that person's page, in which case the won't tell you anything that you can't find out from the page you're already on. --abates 17:35, 5 October 2010 (EDT)

Seeing all the births in a particular year at once could be interesting. We could also note things such as the founding of Hasbro/Takara or the beginning of the Microman line. --Khajidha 19:11, 5 October 2010 (EDT)
Ah, damnit. --Lonegamer78 19:14, 5 October 2010 (EDT)
Also, who's to say we won't all of a sudden have an event that happens in "1965" in the transformers fiction. Are we then going to have a page for that year and not 1966? that makes no sense, I think we should have pages for years going back at least to the earliest birth related to transformers/hasbro/takara. It's a given that some pages will have little content, but I would rather have that than big gaps in history.MadmanFoidart 13:55, 6 October 2010 (EDT)
If we go with this route, there are going to be big gaps in history anyway, because there'll be years where no one Transformers related was born and nothing happened in fiction. We could put in stub years to keep the navigation going, but... --abates 16:19, 6 October 2010 (EDT)
Those gaps would at least represent an actual lack of data. Not showing that nothing happened in a particular year is quite different from not showing what is known to have happened in a particular year. --Khajidha 16:23, 6 October 2010 (EDT)
Are you saying that we should have pages, even if they're empty to show that we're missing data? I would rather have pages that are currently empty but have the possibility to be filled than no pages and someone just thinking it's not important enough to put an event that happened in 1984 on the wiki.MadmanFoidart 16:32, 6 October 2010 (EDT)
I think he's saying that if nothing happened in a year, we don't have an article for that year. But that breaks navigating backwards and forwards through the years. --abates 17:30, 6 October 2010 (EDT)
I find the breaks super annoying, try navigating the years of transformers and all of a sudden, there's no page for 1997. AAArgh! I would rather avoid them. -- MadmanFoidart 17:34, 6 October 2010 (EDT)
Yeah, abates called it. Breaks should only happen if there really is nothing to say for that year. But, given the vast number of people involved with TFs, we should still be able to find a few things to say for many years. --Khajidha 17:46, 6 October 2010 (EDT)
Sounds good, I'll start adding links and making new pages when I have the time then. --MadmanFoidart 17:59, 6 October 2010 (EDT)
