User talk:Magaroja/Leader Class Movie Starscream
Like the various figures released earlier, Leader-class Starscream transforms into a(n officially licensed?) Lockheed-Martin F-22 Raptor fighter jet, decoed in a gunmetal-like gray and covered in Cybertronian tattoos to more accurately reflect his on-screen appearance in Revenge of the Fallen than his Voyager-class toys. In robot mode, either of Starscream's hands can fold down to accommodate a spring-loaded missile launcher that fires one of two included projectiles; both missiles and the missile launcher can be stored via pegs on his back. Starscream also features two flip-out, non-firing weapons on his forearms: a cannon resembling an M61 Vulcan on the right, and two generic missiles on the left.
Starscream's primary gimmick in this size is the addition of electronic lights and sounds. Pulling down on his canopy in robot mode opens chest panels and his mouth and produces one of two phrases: "Decepticons will crush the Autobots!" and "No one can defeat Starscream!" in the version released in the United States, and simply "Decepticons!" and "Starscream!" in the version released in rest of the world, including most of the version released in Canada, Mexico, and Latin America. Additionally, the canopy activates an LED which light up Starscream's clear, red eyes and various other portions of clear, amber plastic in his chest. During transformation, a button is activated, playing a four-note version of the Noise. In Raptor mode, Starscream's lights and sounds are activated by a Decepticon-sigil covered button on the top of the jet. In addition to lighting the canopy and turbines, this button plays two sounds: either generic jet engine noises or Starscream's voice saying either "No one can defeat Starscream!" (US) or simply "Starscream!" (International).
OLD VERSION
- The largest Starscream to date, Leader class Starscream is an accurate representation of the character in both modes. In robot mode, Starscream is primarily cast in a gunmetal-like gray, with the same tribal tattoos featured in the movie and associated media, with various parts cast in a darker gray, brown, reddish brown, red, and amber for the canopy. The larger figure class brings with it an impressive amount of articulation, some of which is paired with automatically sliding panels to mimic hydraulics. Starscream's hands can fold down and away to accommodate a missile launcher that pegs into the end of either wrist, firing one of the two brown missles he carries; when not in use, the missile launcher can be stored on his back. In addition, he also features two flipout, non-firing weapons on his forearms: a cannon resembling an M61 Vulcan on the right, and two generic missiles on the left.
- Transformation into Raptor mode is accomplished via a completely different transformation scheme from either Voyager figure. The result is a MUCH cleaner jet mode, with no superfluous robot-mode parts dangling off the ends of the jet. Starscream's Raptor and robot modes are predominantly gunmetal gray; most of the other colors are limited to the underside of the vehicle mode, where a good deal of robot mode kibble is present but unobtrusive. Landing gears stored inside the nosecone and along the legs - which form a major part of the underside - can swing out to allow for smooth rolling.Unfortunately, the rear landing gear is too tight at its pin joint and has a distressing tendency to crack. The two launchable missiles can be stored on holes beneath each wing, while the missile launcher can be inserted into pegs at the bottom-center of the jet. This can be swung forward to expose the launching mechanism, allowing a missile to be fired at a slightly downward angle relative to the jet.
- Starscream's primary gimmick in this size is the addition of electronic lights and sounds. Pulling down on this canopy in robot mode slightly opens two chest panels, lifts the top of his head slightly (in imitation of an open mouth) and produces one of two phrases. American versions say "Decepticons will crush the Autobots!" and "No one can defeat Starscream!" while the international release only says "Starscream!" and "Decepticons!". To the annoyance of many fans, this version (rather than the American version) was the main version released in Canada, Mexico and Latin America. Additionally, a small light activates in the middle of the robot mode body, lighting up his clear, red eyes, along with various other portions of clear amber plastic that are revealed by the moving panels. During transformation - specifically, the step where the nosecone must be flipped up for Raptor mode or down for robot mode, a button with a purple Decepticon sigil is activated, playing a four-note version of the Noise. In Raptor mode, Starscream's lights and sounds are activated by another Decepticon-sigil covered button on the forward left side of the jet. In addition to lighting the canopy and the turbines at the front of the jet, this button plays two sounds: some generic jet engine noises and Starscream's voice saying either "No one can defeat Starscream!" or just "Starscream!"
