Templates

[edit]

That's really not how the DEFAULTSORT template is supposed to be used. It's for cases like real people whom we would want to be sorted in categories by their last names, not for characters whom we want to be sorted as they exist already. Otherwise, if you set Animated Siren's default sorting as "(Animated), Siren", he's not sorted under "S" like he should be. Also, don't add DEFAULTSORT if it doesn't need one; for example, whether or not DEFAULTSORT is there, a character name only one word long is going to be sorted into the same spot anyway, so it only adds an unnecessary extra layer. Likewise, if you see a category tag that's piped to a blank space, that's for a reason. That causes them to automatically become the first article listed in that category. So for example, by using the blank space for the IDW continuity category on the IDW continuity page, that means the IDW continuity article will show up as the very first thing in the category.

Honestly, right now you're making a whole lot of changes that are either unnecessary or unhelpful. I'd appreciate it if you'd slow down, take some time to read our help pages, and look for more meaningful areas where you can contribute. -- Cyberlink420 (talk) 14:28, 18 March 2019 (EDT)
