Timeout

[edit]

Hi, I am giving you a timeout for edit warring. If you find yourself repeatedly being reverted, we prefer you take it up on the article talk page rather than continuing to make the same edits again. Editing collaboratively is one of the cornerstones to successfully creating a wiki. --abates (talk) 21:07, 2 February 2025 (EST)

Interesting. I guess I’ll check out the talk page and see how it works then. The main issue seems to be a user called Cyberlink420, so if I can get him to stop throwing a tantrum and actually look at the official sources I provided then this should be over quickly enough. Thank you for informing me of the talk page and its purpose. Steampunk671213 (talk) 22:47, 2 February 2025 (EST)
You do know I'm part of the site staff and everyone else is in agreement that you using a ruler isn't actually adequate as a source, right? Hence why we're going to be spending the next few days cleaning out any entries that don't have an exact number available and adding proper citations for everything. -- Cyberlink420 (talk) 21:31, 2 February 2025 (EST)
Yeah I know. I checked out the admin page earlier today and saw you listed there (also some folks complained about you specifically when describing to me how to use this site lol). Was wondering when I’d get the chance to chat with you without character limits. Glad I finally have the opportunity. So here’s something I don’t quite understand: if you were complacent with eyeballing official charts prior to today, why lose your cool when presented with the concept of actually measuring unlabeled charts out? It’s far more accurate and can be easily replicated across multiple people for confirmation. One might even say that measuring a chart is just a more accurate way of reading it. The only possible downside to it is that it would create a little more room for pesky debates about the exact figures to put down, but even that could be resolved with a simple “~” in front of the heights and a disclaimer above the segment explaining that the listed heights were taken from an unlabeled chart. Don’t get me wrong, I don’t hate you or think you’re stupid, but I find your inability to come up with such simple solutions, such as the ones I’ve listed, exceptionally strange. Especially when blatantly inaccurate listings like 18 meters for Omega Supreme have been prevalent for so long. Although I do see the logic in your plan to simply erase the sections based on unlabeled charts. It’s pretty simple and will get rid of any need for debating the heights on that page. Also love that the sources section will finally be overhauled. While you’re at it, please finally get around to erasing those fan made AOE Dinobot heights and KSI drone blueprint heights. I don’t know who added those to the official heights page, but they’re about the furthest thing from official. They were created in the AOE scale chart thread on TFW2005 by a user called RedGoblin. They’re exceptionally well made, but they are still fan made and don’t belong on the page. Steampunk671213 (talk) 22:47, 2 February 2025 (EST)
The page hasn't been addressed until now because it's barely been touched over the last almost 15 years and fell through the cracks (hence why it still lists the KSI blueprints despite the fact we deleted those files from the wiki years ago); we can't be aware of the state of all 30,000+ pages at any given moment. Standards for pages in general have also gone up since the page was created, hence why multiple older pages have been heavily overhauled, and with this page getting so much recent attention, it reminded people it exists and led multiple regulars to realize it was in a serious need of cleanup. And even using a ruler, there are people who are going to debate the accuracy of that, hence why it's much more reasonable to only list sizes that are officially labelled. Also, please sign your posts with ~~~~. -- Cyberlink420 (talk) 22:08, 2 February 2025 (EST)
Now this is why I was excited to talk to you. That’s amazing stuff to hear right there. I frequent TFW2005 far more than I frequent this place so I’ve only scratched the surface of its rich history. Apologies for rocking the boat while learning how to use this site, although I’d be lying if I said I wasn’t excited to finally see this overhaul occur. Btw, since I won’t be able to edit anything for the next few days, I guess I’ll go ahead and give you these here: https://www.tfw2005.com/boards/threads/aoe-scale-chart-thread.966670/page-161#post-23075042 It’s a compilation of nearly every official movie size chart and source that I’ve collected. There’s some stuff in here that’s already found its way to the TFwiki, and quite a lot that hasn’t. Can’t wait to see Shatter’s official height finally added to this place. Appreciated. And you don't need to type the nowiki part, just the four tildes; that'll automatically add your signature and timestamp. -- Cyberlink420 (talk) 22:41, 2 February 2025 (EST)
Ah I see. Thank you. Steampunk671213 (talk) 22:47, 2 February 2025 (EST)

...please use that "Show preview" button that's to the right of the "Save page" button so you can check to see how your edit/post will look like. That way you're not cluttering up the Recent Changes page with your edits, and make sure to check the box to the left of "This is a minor edit" if they're small edits. --Lonegamer78 (talk) 04:53, 3 February 2025 (EST)

Gotcha, I’ll make sure to do that from now on. Thank you. Steampunk671213 (talk) 08:56, 3 February 2025 (EST)
