Vertebreak is a Predacon from the Beast Wars: Uprising portion of the Generation 1 continuity family.

Vertebreak is an elite Resistance warrior and one of Lio Convoy's most decorated special forces troopers. He's not one for words outside of the odd growl; he'd rather be tearing into Builders using his new hyenabot beast mode.

Beast Wars: Uprising

[edit]

Vertebreak was an elite Resistance trooper. During the Vehicon Apocalypse, he was one of three special forces soldiers selected to go with Lio Convoy and Blackarachnia to attempt to infiltrate the Grand Mal and end the Vehicon threat at the source. Their vehicle was shot down, but managed to get them inside. Vertebreak, in his hyenabot form as always, was the first to sense the approach of a cadre of Cycle Drones, growling to warn the other. He and Lio Convoy battled to allow the others to escape, but eventually Vertebreak was felled. Just before he was forcibly converted into a Vehicon, he wordlessly urged Lio Convoy to flee, which he did. Derailment

Toys

Prime

[edit]
  • Vertebreak (Deluxe, 2013)
    • Series / Number: 2 / 014
    • Accessories: Hyena Cannon, missile, tail/whip
The Prime Vertebreak toy doubles as the Beast Wars: Uprising character Vertebreak.
Part of the fourth wave of Prime: Beast Hunters Deluxe Class toys, Vertebreak is a redeco of Lazerback, and transforms into a drake with an opening jaw. His tail detaches to become a whip that is held by his hands via 5mm post. His dragon back hinges over his head in robot mode to become the "Hyena Cannon", a spring-loaded missile launcher which fires a single, double-pronged missile. The launcher itself is attached to a peg-hole on his back, and can be detached for use as a hand-held weapon.
His instructions include the twenty-first chapter of the Tales of the Beast Hunters series. This mold was also retooled into Go! Gaidora.

Notes

[edit]
  • In "Derailment", Vertebreak never converts out of beast mode and communicates only in growls. It is not clear if he's even capable of normal speech.
  • While his Prime namesake transforms into a dragon, Uprising Vertebreak's alt-mode is instead described as that of a hyenabot as a reference to Prime Vertebreak's weapon.
