When a meteorite landed in northern Arizona, a research team led by Dr. Walter Huddleston was given permission by the federal government to investigate. Dr. Huddleston was prepared to wait as long as a few days before research began to make sure the area was absolutely safe. One of the scientists on his team, Charlie Fong, was more impatient.

Before research actually began, three robotic aliens arrived over a bridge that materialized out of nowhere. Dr. Huddleston rushed his team to safety and radioed for help. The National Guard arrived and locked the area down.

Dr. Huddleston found out later that Charlie Fong talked his way past one of the guards to the crater site where explosions could be seen in the distance. He was irate, but there wasn't anything he could do. Crater Critters
