William Oates was serving under Captain Cartwright at the Udeid Air Base in Qatar when the group was assigned to team up with Ironhide to take out Scorponok, one of the loose ends left-over from the recent Autobot-Decepticon conflict. Scorponok managed to surprise the group however, and took control of Ironhide's body, sending the humans fleeing. Thankfully, Darius Gale managed to sever Scorponok's connection to Ironhide with a well-placed shot, and Ironhide took out the Decepticon before anyone got seriously injured. Scorpion Sting
