Yuri is an ex-Russian cosmonaut. Since his trip to the Moon got cancelled, he and fellow-cosmonaut Dimitri have been living a more secluded life.

After their mission to the Moon in 1972 was shut down, Yuri and Dimitri went into hiding in America. Years later, they were tracked down to a dive by Seymour Simmons and Sam Witwicky, who were after answers as to why their mission was cancelled. As Dimitri explained about the Luna 4 mission, Yuri showed them the photos showing strange cylindrical rocks on the Moon with what looked like drag marks. Simmons and Witwicky were extremely interested in the pictures, and started talking about Pillars and space bridges and other weird stuff. Dark of the Moon
