[[Primacron]] built some of the primitives in the ancient past. Over time, he improved his work, building them bigger and nastier until his greatest achievement, [[Unicron]] turned on him, deciding not to allow himself to be controlled by Primacron. Unicron attacked Primacron's lab. Primacron survived. [[Oracle (G1)|Primacron's assistant]]'s body was destroyed, but his life essence escaped.

In 2006, the Primitives were brought together by Primacron's assistant to combat the threat posed by the scientist and his latest creation, [[Tornedron]]. The assistant hoped that the Primitives' "simple instincts" could overcome the brilliant scientist's complex plans. The assistant was proved correct when Grimlock broke into Primacron's control room and toggled the "reverse switch," a solution that eluded Primacron himself.
