Twenty-one years have passed since [[Cybertron (planet)|Cybertron]]'s restoration by the [[Last Autobot]] and the world is at peace, but [[Soundwave (G1)/Marvel Comics continuity|Soundwave]] gathers several [[Decepticon]]s and inspires them to retake Cybertron. [[Optimus Prime (G1)/Marvel Comics continuity|Optimus Prime]] refuses to let [[Kup (G1)|Kup]] and [[Ultra Magnus (G1)|Ultra Magnus]] to stop the uprising before it begins, and Soundwave leads a Decepticon strike team to capture a super-weapon and fire it upon [[Iacon (polity)|Iacon]] and the Last Autobot. {{storylink|Counterpoint}} A second terrorist attack is foiled by the [[Wrecker]]s, and prompts Kup to team up with them to clean up other worlds affected by the [[Great War (G1)|Great War]]. They head to [[Earth]], which they discover has been devastated, and are attacked by [[Megatron (G1)/Marvel Comics continuity|Megatron]] while still in orbit. Meanwhile, [[Grimlock (G1)/Marvel Comics continuity|Grimlock]] heads to [[Nebulos]] to find a cure for [[Nucleon]]. {{storylink|Loose Ends, Part 1}} The Wreckers are left stranded on Earth, being hunted by Megatron's army, consisting of the re-animated corpses of Decepticons and Autobots alike. Meanwhile, Grimlock has landed on Nebulos, and comes under attack by natives, being felled by a strong blast. Back on Earth, Kup is captured by Megatron's forces, and realizes that [[Ratchet (G1)|Ratchet]] has been made the figurehead of Megatron's transport as a disembodied head, and the other Wreckers are attacked by a superhuman calling himself [[Spike Witwicky (G1)|Circuit-Smasher]]. {{storylink|Loose Ends, Part 2}} The Wreckers learn that Circuit-Smasher is, in fact, the Autobots former ally Spike Witwicky. Grudgingly, Spike tells the Wreckers what has happened since the Autobots left Earth, stating that Megatron had been accidently revived by humans intruding into the [[Ark (G1)|Ark]], and his Headmaster partner [[Fortress Maximus (G1)|Fortess Maximus]] had been killed battling Megatron's forces, leaving Spike in a coma until [[G.B. Blackrock]] used technology previously used by [[Circuit Breaker]] to rebuild him. Meanwhile, Optimus Prime and the Autobots recieve a transmission from Earth in which Megatron challenges Prime and his Autobots to come to Earth to face him. Prime does not hesitate to gather a team to stop Megatron. Meanwhile, Soundwave and Bludgeon scheme to retrieve the remains of Thunderwing. {{storylink|Loose Ends, Part 3}} The Wrecker split up to take down the Ark's supercomputer [[Auntie]] and Megatron, but one by one they fall to the Ark's defenses and to Megatron's forces. Meanwhile, on Cybertron, the Decepticons break into the Hall of Science and steal Thunderwing's remains, and back on Earth, Prime's forces arrive, and Starscream, only semi-sentient thanks to Megatron, tells Kup two words that will help end Megatron: "Kill Ratchet!". {{storylink|Loose Ends, Part 4}} Prime and Megatron once again duke it out once again, as Circuit Smasher tries to shut down Auntie, and Kup crawls to Ratchet. Due to hesitation on Prime's part, Megatron prepares to kill him as Kup shoots Ratchet, causing Megatron to become weakened due to his neural link with Ratchet, and Prime kills him, while Circuit Smasher successfully takes down Auntie, leaving the Autobots to deal with the repercussions of Megatron's actions as, unknown to them, [[Galvatron (G1)|Galvatron]] bursts from the ice near the Ark. Meanwhile, Grimlock is in a conversation with his captor, [[Scorponok (G1)|Scorponok]], who asks Grimlock to join him as he prepares to rewrite Cybertronian history. {{storylink|Loose Ends, Part 5}}
