The Decepticons somehow built Argon and its two sister stations, Krypton, and Xenon, in orbit around Earth without the Autobots knowing. When the Autobots realized that somehow the Decepticons were aware of their movements, they sent the Aerialbots to investigate the possibility of a surveillance system. The team failed to locate anything from the air, and merged into Superion to gain even greater height. Reaching the fringes of space, the super robot detected large but invisible in orbit. Ten hours later, Soundwave completed and activated the station's refraction shield to conceal it from prying Autobot eyes, specifically those of Cosmos, who had been dispatched into space to investigate. Cosmos did, however, detect the radio transmissions running between the stations and the Decepticon base.

Some ten days later, the Decepticon communications to Space Station Argon were abruptly cut off. Just when Blitzwing was starting to get concerned, they received an emergency transmission from Soundwave, instructing them to re-locate the station to coordinates alpha 9-0-2. The Decepticons on board fired up the station's rocket motors and moved it to the indicated coordinates. There, it collided with similarly-cloaked Space Stations Krypton and Xenon, which had also received exactly the same message. Naturally the message had been sent by the Autobots while the real transmissions from the Decepticon base had been blocked by an artificial aurora. Galvatron's Air Attack
