  • Swerve with Roadhandler (Deluxe, 2004)
  • Accessories: 2 launchers, 2 missiles
Part of the seventh wave of Universe Deluxes, Swerve is a redeco of the Armada Blurr mold, transforming into a sleek Cybertronic racecar. In vehicle mode, inserting his pack-in partner Roadhandler under his spoiler activates his "flight mode", flipping down his rear side panels into hover-wings. He also comes with two Mini-Con Powerlinx-activated spring-loaded missile launchers.
This mold was retooled to make Cybertron Blurr, and retooled again to make the BotCon 2008-exclusive Shattered Glass Blurr.

Notes

[edit]
  • Swerve began life as a planned Powerlinx version of Armada Blurr.[1][2] In fact, Hasbro reached out to Ben Yee in March of 2003 to ask fans for input on what a potential Powerlinx version of Blurr should look like.[3] Yee ran a poll on his website that "Hasbro [would] seriously take ... into consideration", with options including "G1 oriented color scheme (such as Wheeljack's)", "gold and black color scheme", "translucent colors", and "rally colors with logo labels/stickers".[4] Unsurprisingly, the "G1" option won overwhelmingly; if one assumes that the eventual red and black color scheme of Universe Swerve was thus G1-inspired, this might suggest it was developed as an homage to Overdrive (who had a flight mode similar to Blurr's) only to suffer the same trademark problems that affected Alternators Windcharger (who also started out as Overdrive).
