The two make their big entrance in front of the three finalized Trainbots and the two humans, but Mach transforms to save his creators from harm, having made his own choice to protect others. Nightbird rushes deeper into the lab, so Fujiyama commands all mobile Trainbots to take her in, unharmed.

Several years after the Decepticons' expulsion from Earth following the final battle at the North Pole, the Trainbots were dispatched to pick up a new Autobot warrior named [[Ginrai (human)|Ginrai]] who had risen to prominence on Earth and bring him to [[Athenia]] so Fortress could appoint him [[Supreme Commander]]. Naturally, the Decepticons attacked Athenia during Ginrai's stay, and Raiden was formed to fight back, only for him to wind up being cut down alongside Chromedome by a powerful blast from the combined Decepticon [[Scramble 7]]. {{storylink|The Battle Begins! Elsewhere, Nightbird finds the three still inactivated Trainbots that Shadow proposes converting into her "vassals". They're interrupted when [[Yamabuki|Yellow]] and her team of prototype Trainbots confront the ninja. Nightbird attempts an escape, so Doctor has her team combine into [[G Liner]] to easily subdue their "sister". Unfortunately, as Shadow points out, the prototype combiner is a bit slow on the draw, so the swift Nightbird manages to install Shadow's [[cerebro-shell]] program into G Liner. Under the two's control, G Liner absconds with the three sleeping Trainbots, leading to the remaining three panicking on what to do. Mach takes charge and is deemed the leader; he proposes a risky idea of literally charging into the combiner in a doubleheader configuration with himself and Snow, with Night holding up the track.

Soon after, when the leader of the space-based Decepticon forces, [[Scorponok (G1)|BlackZarak]], began heading for Earth, Raiden, the Autobot Headmasters and [[Grand Maximus]] gave chase. They were unable to stop him, but luckily, no sooner had he arrived than Ginrai tricked BlackZarak and the Earth Decepticon leader [[Overlord (G1)|Overlord]] into blasting each other. The Trainbots were wounded fighting the [[Nine Great Demon Generals]], who tore them apart in their Raiden configuration. Blaming himself, Shouki left the team, and began fighting alone, all so that he would never endanger a comrade again. Shouki returned to his creators, [[Shibuya Manufacturing Corporation|Shibuya Manufacturing Worldwide]], and elected to give up his ability to combine and be reformatted into a triple changer. {{storylink|Shouki#Generations (Japan)|''Generations'' Shouki bio}} While undergoing the procedure at [[Metrobase]], he saved [[Daniel Witwicky (G1)|Daniel Witwicky]] from the [[Jet Corps]]. After [[Kickback (G1)|Kickback]] had stolen data specs of [[Metroplex (G1)|Metroplex]]'s [[Metrowars|new body]], Shouki disguised himself as the ''Thunder Arrow'' and lay in wait for the [[Insecticon (G1)|Insecticon]] to come to him. In due course, the Decepticon approached Shouki and was wholly fooled by his disguise, allowing the Autobot and Daniel to strike down Kickback and incinerate the data he was carrying. Though Daniel congratulated Shouki on a job well done, the Autobot wasn't too keen on partnering himself with the boy; remembering what had happened to his comrades from [[Micro|Zone]], Shouki urged Daniel to distance himself from him so that he wouldn't come into harm's way. The conversation was interrupted by an emergency signal emanating from Cybertron, and the pair took off for the mechanical world.
Upon arrival, Shouki was accosted by [[The Fallen]], who had burned his way to Cybertron's core in order to reach [[Vector Sigma]]. The ancient Transformer sardonically thanked [[Overdrive]] for guiding him to his goal, a statement which Shouki misinterpreted as meaning that Overdrive was in cahoots with The Fallen. He prepared to blast Overdrive, only to be stopped by [[Alpha Trion (G1)|Alpha Trion]]. The elder advised Shouki to consider the situation at hand without letting his emotions cloud his judgement. Alpha Trion furthermore directed Shouki's attention to Vector Sigma as it activated itself, prompting Overdrive to petition his [[spark]] and his [[Quantum Dial]] to the super-computer in order to stave off The Fallen.
