With the realization that maximum brightness could destroy the Specters, the leaders of the Primus Vanguard conceived a plan to use all of the light in their Matrices to destroy the Specters and leave no shadow. This had the side effect of unifying the seven universes into one, which seemed peaceful. The mysterious Specters (スペクター Supekutā) are "inversions of the Matrix Spectrum" faced by the Primus Vanguard.

In the seven universes protected by the Primus Vanguard, the Specters acted as shadows of the Light of the Vanguard's Matrices.
