MY NAME IS BLUE. HOW DO YOU DO.

Big (ビッグ Biggu) was a subordinate member of the Blue Order till Blue Brightes Convoy fell in battle against the Specters. With the Straxuses as witnesses, Brightes passed on his leadership to Big, christening him "Blue Big Convoy" (ブルー偉大なる (ビッグ)司令官 (コンボイ), lit. "Grand Commander Blue").<ref>As with other Primus Vanguard officers, Blue Big Convoy's title is subject to a form of Japanese wordplay wherein "Grand Commander" is written in Japanese text as Idainaru Shireikan (偉大なる司令官) but given the arbitrary foreign pronunciation "Big Convoy" (ビッグコンボイ). See the Japanese language article for further details on how this works.</ref> Finale Prelude As befitted his position, he carried the α Matrix and wielded the evil-vanquishing Matrix Sword inherited from leaders past. He saved his comrade Straxus from three Specters, using the Matrix energy coursing through his body to vanquish the otherwise untouchable foes. Blue Big Convoy comic This led him and other leaders of the Primus Vanguard to conclude that they could vanquish the Specters for good by unleashing the full brightness of their Matrices, and did so, combining their seven separate universes in the process. However, this combined universe came under attack from the Vok, and Primus's realization of their true origin as evolved Specters from the following universe led to a breakdown that drove away the Convoys and Primes of the Primus Vanguard, who returned to their home planets. Only Big remained by his side, likely to watch over his disgraced leader. Finale Prelude

When a battle between dimensional interlopers Star Convoy and Ultra Megatron came to a city on the Blue Planet, Blue rallied the Blue Order to defend the fallen hero. Big put up a good fight against the Silver Matrix-empowered Megatron, but was left drained when Megatron stole the Star Power from his own Matrix.Super Megatron comic 2 This gave Straxus, jealous of Big for being chosen by Brightes, the opening he needed to activate a rage program implanted within the Order by his twin Straxus. As the Blue Order tore itself apart, Big used the Matrix Sword to take his own life before he could harm his comrades.

Having plundered five more of the Primus Vanguard's Matrices in the subsequent commotion, the pirate combiner God Neptune set out to use their power to seize the Purple Matrix and the Silver Matrix (carrying with it the Blue Star Power of the α Matrix pilfered from Blue) from the now allied Megatron Omega, Straxuses, and Purple Wicked Convoy. Straxus attempted a swipe with the stolen Matrix Sword to defend his new liege Omega, but was disarmed by God Neptune with the Matrix Saber. The Matrix Sword wasn't without surprises, however, and Big's spirit emerged, revealing that he had placed a portion of his spark into the sword when he committed suicide. Big linked to the Matrix Buster to give God Neptune a good blast in support of his surviving Vanguard comrades before receding back into the blade. God Neptune comic 2 Blue Megatron sought to take Blue Big Convoy's position as representative of the Blue Light, but he and his cadre of like-minded Megatrons were defeated. Finale

Big's gambit revealed, the traitorous Straxus eventually managed to extract the energy from Big's lingering spark within the Matrix Sword to create a clone, Convobat. After evolved Order drone Magna Convoy retrieved a broken Matrix Sword from Straxus, Big's essence within the sword appeared to Magna Convoy and entrusted him with his final "Blue Order", a responsibility to guide and support his clone, before fading away. Legends comic

[edit]

Blue Big Convoy was a Convoy Type, a Transformer created by Vector Sigma in the image of Optimus Primal, but, unlike his peers, he did not believe this earned him a spot as a Great Convoy and expected that the inequality caused by glorifying Convoys would eventually lead to rebellion. He believed in peace between Maximals and Predacons and fought many battles to defend that peace together with his son, Big Junior, until he fell defending Junior during a battle with mysterious foes. On his deathbed, he taught his son that a Convoy isn't something special you're born as, but something you become when you choose to fight to protect others. Asking Junior to take his left arm for himself, he dubbed him "Big Convoy" before passing away. LG-EX Blue Big Convoy

Beast Wars

[edit]
Can a Lucky Draw toy get hit by the Bludgeon effect?
The blue variant of Beast Wars Neo Big Convoy (BW) was repurposed as Blue Big Convoy.
A redeco of Big Convoy in blue, this figure is a Lucky Draw item. Transforming into an organic mammoth, Big Convoy's beast mode has a rubber trunk which can be controlled by pushing a lever on the top of his head. In addition, the tusks can be moved by pulling back either of his ears.
In robot mode, Big Convoy is absolutely chock-full of weapons and gimmicks:
  1. The spring-loaded Big Cannon (formed out of the beast's head, back, and tail) can fire two missiles from two barrels in succession with a rotating dial. It is held in his hands via 5 mm post and can be stored on his back.
  2. His shoulder armor can be swung up to reveal sculpted, non-firing missile pods.
  3. He has flip-out [[wikipedia:{{#if:|:}}tonfa|{{#if:||tonfa}}]] melee weapons in both forearms.
  4. The two beast panels on the sides of his legs feature two spring-loaded missile launchers that fire his anchor-shaped "Mammoth Haken" projectiles (similar to the original Beast Wars Ultra Class Megatron toy); the missiles can also be loosely held as melee weapons.
  5. His chest panel flips down, revealing the first-ever removable Matrix toy accessory, vacuum-metalized gold with a transparent blue center. This accessory can be held by any figure with standard 5 mm fist holes.
Big Convoy technically has a third mode, known as "Mammoth Tank", which is basically just his beast mode with the Big Cannon folded out. Yay.
This toy is somewhat infamous for being a shellformer, as practically all of his beast mode components are shells that fit around the compressed robot to form this mode. Much of his kibble can be detached from the main figure to form the majority of his beast mode on its own.

Bear in the Big Blue Convoy
Legends Blue Big Convoy is another redeco of the original Ultra-sized Big Convoy toy, this time recreating the above prize figure with some deco differences. Most significant is that this toy has no translucent arm, and that the hydraulics on his shins are painted gray instead of blue.
The external packaging spells his name as "Blue Bigconvoy", while the instructions use "Blue Big Convoy".

Notes

[edit]
  • In the Generations Selects Special Comic, Blue Big Convoy is accurately drawn with his toy's Maximal insignia on his chest despite existing before the concepts of Maximal and Predacon. If any meaning to this exists, we could not tell you.
