The Pretenders make their presence known in Japan's past.
Synopsis
[edit]In old Japan, two human children are being pursued by Carnivac and Iguanus. Their Decepticon Pretender comrades, led by Octopunch soon appear, and Octopunch delights himself in mocking the human children. Bludgeon finds the entire thing beneath their notice, but Octopunch rebukes him, saying he let one escape and intends to use the two children as his playthings.
Suddenly, what appears to be a human strikes Octopunch with such speed that his helmet is broken. Bludgeon attacks the human, deeming him to be worthy of dueling, but the wounds he inflicts show that the "human" is not much of one, after all. Unimpressed by his weak state after one blow, Bludgeon moves in for the kill with his sword, but the human children stand in defense of their rescuer. Bludgeon is impressed by the resolute boy, but nevertheless will still kill all of them. Just in time, the Autobot Pretenders come to the rescue!
Lander apologizes for the lateness, blaming the poor reception caused by the local magnetic fields. He explains how they ran into a human woman, who asked for help in rescuing her siblings from the Decepticons. The two forces of Pretenders regroup and begin their battle. Lander tries to take on Octopunch, but the Pretender opens out of his shell and reveals his robot form, putting Lander in his mercy. Thankfully, he is rescued by Diver and Phoenix. The "human" is forced to battle against Bludgeon—both his shell and his true form at the same time. The "human" expresses that the bravery and goodness of humanity has inspired him to fight against evil and transforms into Metalhawk! With his Ground Impact, he creates a pit of lava that Bludgeon falls in. The Decepticon praises his opponent's tactics as he sinks, while Metalhawk transforms into jet mode and leaves the pit.
The Pretenders regroup and Metalhawk thinks of how the humans have inflamed a passion in him to protect the Earth and the humans that live on it.
