The Astroforce is a group of drones created by Astrotrain out of human-built trains. They manage to move forward without aid, but unfortunately are unable to grasp such concepts as "Brakes" and "Stop!" and "That's a water main!". This is probably because Astrotrain modified them with parts out of a human-designed Railroad Dispatch system (essentially a glorified LED display), which the Triple Changer believed to be 'the latest in computer controls'. Sure, Astro, sure.

And to think, this guy was the smart one.

Having chased off the humans, Astrotrain proceeded to modify a number of trains into drones and instructed them to gather energy. The results were less than spectacular. When Thundercracker and the Coneheads checked up on Astrotrain, he took them to see the Astroforce... which had managed to crash into a mess. One lone train still functioned, and Astrotrain instructed it to tap a gas main. Turns out trains can't tell the difference between gas mains and water mains.

The remains of the Astroforce ended up on the flooded city streets where maritime salvage laws probably applied. Triple Takeover

Legends comic

[edit]

After becoming a Headmaster, Astrotrain hatched a plan to create a new Astroforce by having Tarantulas mass-produce Astrotrain-based transtectors that would capture any Headmasters who combined with them, forcing them into Astrotrain's servitude. The plan failed because he was too stingy with giving his slaves energy, leading to the locks automatically disabling and the captive Headmasters escaping. LG40 Astrotrain

    • The black, dark grey, and yellow train (Train #1 in the model sheets) is directly based off of the Burlington's [[wikipedia:{{#if:|:}}Pioneer Zephyr|{{#if:||Pioneer Zephyr}}]], the first streamlined train put into regular service.
    • The black, grey and green train (Train #2 in the model sheets) is mostly based off of the German National Railway's [[wikipedia:{{#if:|:}}DRG Class 05|{{#if:Class 05|Class 05|DRG Class 05}}]] express steam locomotive, with the addition of a cab window in the front to make it look more akin to a diesel like the other two types of trains in the Astroforce.
