[edit]2001 Robots in Disguise cartoon
[edit]As part of the process for constructing the Mega-Laser, the Predacons stole the world's largest ruby, alerting the Spychangers to the fact that something was up. As work on the cannon progressed, the Predacons became aware that one of the Spychangers, Mirage, seemed dissatisfied with his teammates, and he was soon approached to join the Predacon cause. When he agreed, Sky-Byte took him to the Mega-Laser Cannon at its location in the twelfth quadrant.
A demonstration of the laser destroyed a nearby mountain, and Mirage was instructed to lure the other Spychangers to the location so they could be destroyed. Of course, it turned out Mirage was shamming, and he warned the Autobots that the Predacons were lying in wait. Megatron attempted to destroy them using a remote triggering of the Mega-Laser, but the Spychangers had T-AI extend the Global Space Bridge around the cannon, allowing them to destroy it. Mirage's Betrayal
