Latest revision as of 20:05, 28 March 2026

This article is about the Cyclone Mini-Con. For the Functionist Council enforcer "Anvil", see Heavies.
Anvil is a Decepticon-allied Cyclone Mini-Con from the Robots in Disguise portion of the Aligned continuity family.
It is an age of darkness...
Superstition and the sword rule...
It is an age of fear...
It is the age...of gargoyles.

The gargoyle-like Anvil is about as sharp as his namesake. But his limited intelligence is hardly an impediment to his primary job: pummeling Autobots insensible. And when paired with his fellow Cyclone Hammer, they're quite the attack dogs.

Anvil was part of the group of Decepticons led by Scorponok and Glowstrike. He and Hammer were teamed up with Bisk and sent to obtain sound boards from the Rumbledome, which was hosting a Rear Axle concert. The two were sent on watch-bot duty by Bisk, but didn't do a terribly good job, as the Autobots' human ally Russell accidentally walked right into the storage room they were ransacking. When Russell knocked over a box of cymbals, the pair of Mini-Cons quickly pounced on and brought the source of the noise to Bisk... that is, they brought the cymbals to him, having missed Russell completely. Anvil took a few cat-like playful swipes at the wires dangling from the sound board Bisk was working on, earning him a quick rebuke from the Decepticon. In response to more Russell-caused noise, the two Mini-Cons started shooting up the place, and an irritated Bisk ordered them to guard the door. Russell escaped via the service elevator, and the trio moved on...

The Mini-Cons accompanied Bisk on-stage, the Decepticon posing as part of the show's "epic space battle" costume and effects extravaganza, aiming to take the remaining sound board from the on-floor sound booth. Bumblebee got in the way, and Bisk took the chance to sic the Mini-Cons on the momentarily star-struck Autobot. However, Bee quickly grabbed the two Mini-Cons, bashed them together, and tossed them into a gigantic speaker stack, shorting them out and knocking them offline. Once Bisk too was taken out of commission, the three were stuffed into a crate for transport and incarceration back at the scrapyard. Bumblebee's Night Off

This in-game gargoyle appears to be way more physically different than his show counterpart, as is the case with many others in the game. He possesses bright red eyes, a sky blue and gray chassis and completely altered facial characteristics.

  • Sideswipe Vs. Decepticon Anvil (Mini-Con Battle Pack, 2016)
Part of the first wave of Mini-Con 2-packs, Anvil transforms from a spiked spheroid into a winged gargoyle-like robot. As a Cyclone Mini-Con, he is designed to be launched from the Deployer Crazybolt and Overload toys. He has multiple indents that look for all the world like Mini-Con armor attachment points, but he does not actually come with any armor.
He was only available in a two-pack with the basic-sized "Decepticon Hunter" Sideswipe.
This mold was also used to make Barithunder.

  • Mini-Con 4-Pack (Multi-pack, 2016)
Anvil was also released in the second of three Mini-Cons four-packs, now in mostly purple plastic with light gray and silver highights.
The Robots in Disguise mobile game labels this figure as "Stealth Anvil", though this descriptor is nowhere to be found on the packaging.
This set also came with redecoes of Hammer, Undertone, and Weaponizer Slipstream, Anvil is a redeco of his Battle Pack toy in purple.

  • Mini-Con Mega Pack (Multi-pack, 2016)
Anvil was also sold in a massive fifteen-pack of Mini-Cons, released exclusively in some Asian and European markets. This Anvil has the plastic breakdowns and deco of the four-pack version (minus the silver on his legs), but with the torso and wings in the slate blue color of his original toy.
This set also includes Back, Bashbreaker, Beastbox, Divebomb, Hammer, Lord Doomitron, Ratbat, Sandsting, Sawback, Swelter, Tricerashot, Undertone, Velocirazor, and Windstrike, each with extremely minor added deco and none with armor sprues.
