This is just bad comedy.

Transformers vs. Visionaries is a five-issue crossover comic miniseries that ran from January to May 2018. Overview

[edit]

Transformers vs. Visionaries spins off out of the First Strike miniseries, where, during a climatic battle in the bowels of Cybertron, the alien wizard Merklynn shed his human identity of "Garrison Kreiger" in a bid to use the ancient Talisman to rebuild his destroyed homeworld of Prysmos. In the aftermath, Cybertron now hosts the alien city of New Prysmos, home to a band of Merklynn's "Visionaries" of whom the evil Darkling Lords are bent on using their magic to wipe technology from the galaxy — starting with the mechanical world of Cybertron. A group of Visionaries led by Leoric, called the Spectral Knights, side with the Transformers to stop Merklynn and the Darkling Lords.

Notes

[edit]
  • In a series of posts reflecting on the series in 2025, Visaggio said IDW's editorial was constantly changing the book's direction throughout its creation and release, explaining it was originally meant to be an ongoing before becoming a miniseries, a crossover, and then a prelude to Transformers: Unicron (in that order). "So the book is sort of a big mess and very talky because it became necessary to explain more and more while getting less and less of a canvas to work with," she said. "With each issue, the [scope] became smaller and more disconnected with the story I was trying to write. Me and Fico were absolutely just bewildered."[2]
