The name or term "Grindcore" refers to more than one character or idea. For a list of other meanings, see Grindcore (disambiguation).
Grindcore is an Autobot from the Transformers portion of the movie continuity family.

A skilled engineer and builder, Grindcore loves noise. Back on Cybertron, he was most at home surrounded by the deafening racket of everyone's alternate modes at a construction site. Proud of his role in Cybertronian society, Grindcore joined the Autobots to contribute his skills in fending off Decepticon tyranny. He now waits for the destruction of the war to end so the construction to begin again.[1]

While he has enjoyed Shock Pop in his home city of Vos, his favorite music on Earth seems to be heavy metal. When he works on various construction projects, it is impossible to not hear him, as his alternate mode's motor runs loud.[2] Rock on, buddy. Rock on.

His bucket shovel can be raised up and down, while his gimmick is unusual in that the Cyber Planet Key slot is in his rear wheels. To configure him into attack mode, one flips up the rear wheels (there are smaller wheels to support the rear end of the vehicle to compensate), inserts the Cyber Key into the wheel-hub slots and twists, deploying blades around the circumference of each tire.

This toy was later repurposed as Shattered Glass Scoop. The mold was also used to make Timelines Rhinox.

Notes

[edit]
  • According to Hasbro designer Joe Kyde's design notes on Hasbro's Transformers website, the Japanese Micromaster Crush-Bull was the inspiration for Grindcore, only with the Decepticon-purple replaced with rust red more befitting of an Autobot. His exceptionally-cool name and bio were inspired by the Earth music genre of the same name.[3]
  • Grindcore is one of seven Walmart-exclusive Deluxe Class redecos originally designed for the 2008 Universe toyline, based on Hasbro product listings.[4]
