Rio Gráfica Editora was a Brazilian comic book company that held the license to publish the Marvel Transformers comic.
Rio Gráfica Editora was founded in 1957 by the Brazilian journalist and businessman Roberto Marinho and was one of the biggest publishing companies in Brazil. The company was responsible for the translations and publication of some of the Marvel Comics titles in Brazil, including Transformers.
The first edition of the Brazilian Transformers comic book was released in November 1985 and presented to Brazilian readers the battle between the Optimus faction against their foes, known as Malignus. This edition had some differences from its American counterpart: Most of the character names were translated to Portuguese, and the comic book cover replaced the original Transformers logo for another one used by Estrela Transformers toys. However, the most visible difference is the exchange of Optimus Prime on the comic book cover for a generic robot in green and yellow (the colors of the Brazilian flag.)
The Rio Gráfica Editora published only twelve issues of Transformers before the company changed their name to Editora Globo.
