This article is a featured article, and considered to be one of the most informative on this wiki.
| This article is about Transformer twins in general. For Skids and Mudflap in particular, see Twins (ROTF). |

Transformer twins often share a closer connection than other forms of Transformer relatives. The exact process by which an 'unborn' Transformer becomes a twin varies by universe; most modern stories opt to use the idea of a single component used in reproduction (protoforms, sparks) splitting. Twin characters tend to act younger than other characters, although this is not a hard-and-fast rule.
Generation 1 continuity family
[edit]
Sideswipe and Sunstreaker were fraternal[1] twin brothers.[2] Fiction at the time never explored the details of this relationship, or if there was such a thing as identical twins.
Roulette and Shadow Striker are twins, or perhaps even triplets with their perished sister. Roulette and Shadow Striker have the same body-type, but what makes them twins is unexplained.
Later fiction (incorporating the concepts of sparks and protoforms retroactively) revealed that brothers were formed when a spark that was being introduced to a protoform naturally split. More Than Meets The Eye
In the Car Robots cartoon, Fire Convoy and God Magnus were stated to be twin brothers created at exactly the same time by Vector Sigma, though Fire Convoy was unsure of which brother was the younger and which was the elder. Forced Fusion! God Fire Convoy Though, Speedbreaker and Wild Ride both suspected God Magnus of being the younger brother. Desperate Situation! 3 Car Robo Brothers
Rumbler and Sprocket were twins, despite their personalities being completely dissimilar. According to Rumbler, they were twins because they were built at the same time, with the same blueprints. A Team Effort
Skyburst and Stormclash are twin sisters, and they often finish each other's sentences. An Uneventful Night
The diminutive Transformer colonists of Devisiun are all born as twins, thanks to either the peculiar gravitational influence of their planet's binary suns or Shockwave seeding the planet with Ore-5. Each twin formed one half of a single alternate mode. Windblade vol. 2 #6
Galvatron and Arcee were twins. Origin Myths
Go-Bots continuity family
[edit]The reckless youngsters Racer-Bot ALPHA and Racer-Bot BETA are twins. The reason seems to be that they were made at the same time with the same then-new Go-Brillium-based technology. Racer-Bot Road Rally
Cybertron
[edit]Hardtop and Swindle are twin brothers.[3]
Animated continuity
[edit]
Jetstorm and Jetfire are the result of a split protoform. Originally refinery workers, they were injured in an industrial accident, making them ideal guinea pigs for Ultra Magnus's anti-Decepticon initiative. They apparently possessed identical circuitry, which made it easy for Red Alert and Perceptor to operate on them. After they were upgraded with Decepticon flight protocols, they gained additional firepower and the ability to combine into Safeguard. First (and Second) in Flight
Blitzwing thought Bumblebee and Captain Fanzone's car were twins but they really weren't. Velocity
Live-action film series
[edit]
Two Transformers that were twins had a special relationship to each other. The two were intimately linked. Their relationship was so close, they considered the other to be their other half. Twins could choose to assume individual alternate modes, or form one half of a larger, more durable altmode.
When one twin died, the other felt a temporary surge of pain, but continued on afterwards by himself.
Twin Link
[edit]Twins could communicate in a way that was almost psychic. This was instantaneous and worked even at a distance. Twins could use this to coordinate battle tactics.[4]

[edit]Skyquake and Dreadwing were, according to Dreadwing, twins formed from a "split Spark", a phenomenon in which the spark meant to create one Cybertronian splits and creates two Cybertronians. This results in the twins having a much closer relationship than non-twin Cybertronians could ever have. Dreadwing stated that he actually felt when Skyquake died, and thus his vendetta against the Autobots is much more personal than any other Decepticon.
