Part of the second wave of War for Cybertron: Kingdom Deluxe Class figures, Ractonite transforms from skeletal [[wikipedia:{{#if:|:}}Styracosaurus|{{#if:||Styracosaurus}}]] to robot and back in 16 steps. As a Fossilizer, Ractonite can split into weapons and armor compatible with the C.O.M.B.A.T. System for use by other War for Cybertron Trilogy figures. The instructions use wave-mate Huffer to wield three possible weapons: a hammer, sword, and spiked club, and an armor mode that uses all of Ractonite's parts. Uniquely, Ractonite lacks traditional 5 mm port hands in robot mode—rather, their arms end in fold-out 5-mm pegs instead, and the tail weapon is designed for Ractonite to wield with those pegs in mind. The peg-hand is depicted as a blaster on Ractonite's package art.
Initial renders had both their beast and robot eyes as light blue, but were changed to red during development, a change reflected in the packaging stock renders. Due to the matte-white paint on the removable nasal horn, some copies suffer from it being stuck inside the cavity. Evidence suggests that the matte paint must've still been wet when the horn was inserted, gluing it into place. Ractonite is packaged with the dinosaur skull facing downwards and the robot arm coming out of the mouth. The instructions, stock renders, TakaraTomy stock photography, and package art all have the skull pointing upwards with the mouth-peg used as the shoulder joint instead.
Similar to fellow Fossilizer Paleotrex/Skelivore, Ractonite features a flip-down mask much like the "mutant head" gimmick used by first-year Beast Wars figures.
At Hasbro Pulse Fan Fest 2021, Mark Maher showed off an unnamed Fossilizer Combiner comprising Paleotrex, Ractonite, and Wingfinger. This made use of the otherwise-rather-limited 5 mm hexagon socket buried deep inside the Styracosaurus mouth, as the connecting point for Wingfinger's combiner head.<ref>Hasbro Pulse FAN FEST 2021</ref>
As with most figures in the toyline, Ractonite comes with one of four possible holographic Golden Disk cards for their wave, which reveals a possible destiny of a key character.
This mold was redecoed and retooled into Tricranius, and differently retooled into Legacy Wreck N' Rule Collection Masterdominus.

Notes

[edit]
Ractonite was just happy to find work after their failed Dinozaurs audition.
  • In a piece of promotional artwork for the Kingdom line revealed during Hasbro PulseCon 2020, Ractonite is shown using a very different design compared to the finished toy, possibly reflecting an earlier stage of the character's development.
  • Some of the other Fossilizer characters (Paleotrex, Wingfinger etc.) that have no bio have been referred to with masculine pronouns during official livestreams. Ractonite is not one of those characters, so as of writing, the character has no official gender.

Foreign names

[edit]
  • Japanese: Ractonite (ラクトナイト Rakutonaito)
