When members of Big Convoy's unit landed on the planet with the Seagull and explored in search for the Angolmois Capsule they detected, Bump took the ship's turbo device. Predacons under Magmatron's command also came a-knocking in search for the capsule, and the two factions fought, with Bump refusing to fight. Sling and Guiledart took a temporary retreat, with the latter deducing that Bump would already know where the capsule was and lead them to it. The Maximals soon found out about Bump's theft of the Seagull part, to which the armadillo justified as "moving things around". When he showed them the capsule—the empty one—the Predacons attacked and took it, without Bump lifting a finger. When Rattrap was turned into a real Transformer, Doctor Bump had a look at him and recognized the change as a symptom of Transformers sickness, explaining the ailment was caused by surrounding yourself with Transformers stuff. Legends Comic: Bonus Edition Vol. 1 He later diagnosed Optimus Primal with the same ailment, but this time his patient protested as unlike Rattrap he didn't collect Transformers toys. A mystery of modern medicine, to be sure. Legends Comic: Bonus Edition Vol. 2
When Arcee also came in a case of Transformers sickness, Bump said she got it from Rattrap's toys and recommended that she throw them all out, but she angrily refused to discard her nephew's cherished toys. Transformers Legends: Arcee Chapter

Latest revision as of 14:47, 14 May 2026

This article is about the Beast Wars Maximal. For the Legends World doctor, see Bump (Legends).
Bump is a Maximal from the Beast Wars Neo portion of the Generation 1 continuity family.
Bump sat alone in a boggy marsh/totally motionless except for his spark!

Bump (バンプ Banpu) is exceedingly reserved in character. He rarely shows any extremities in emotion in any way, be it positive or negative. He believes only in science and considers Cybertronian religions and beliefs to be nothing more than over-hyped fairy tales.

The only time Bump is really happy is when he's retreated into his own private little world of theorems, where he can perform all the experiments he wants without the distractions of others. Though quiet and oftentimes shy, Bump is still good-natured and respectful. Though responsible for many of their greatest weapons, he left the Maximal army when he grew tired of being limited to constructing machines of war. He now works on commission and only on projects that catch his interest. He's quite frugal with his pay and invests it all right back into his studies.

Bump possesses many advanced sensors in his hands and is a quick-draw champion, but has very little actual combat experience.

First appearance: Optimus Prime #1
Is Bump fast asleep or rockin' out with the band?

Hailing from the colony world of Eukaris, Bump and his best friend Gimlet were young Transformers who regularly attended religious sermons delivered by the Fateweaver Blackarachnia. Time Will Rust While the colonies and their inhabitants had developed cultures that deified the Primes, Bump suffered from a private crisis of faith regarding the Thirteen and their lineage, secretly wondering if perhaps the Primes were just ordinary 'bots like any other. Primeless, Part 2 When Optimus Prime put out a call for help keeping the peace on Earth after his annexation of the planet into the Council of Worlds, however, Bump stowed whatever doubts he had and joined Gimlet on their new mission, arriving shortly after Prime's defeat of Baron Karza. Soon, Bump and the other colonist squadmates took to wearing mouthplates in honor of their leader.

Bump was limp and lonely and needed a shove/ Bump slipped on a kiss and tumbled into love!

On one of their earliest missions, the colonists were deployed to Mexico City with Aileron to uphold the Tyrest Accord by locating and neutralizing a cache of stolen Cybertronian weapons. Their presence sparked an anti-Cybertronian protest that quickly turned into an all-out riot; sent in to control the crowds, Midnight Express was shot by a protester wielding one of the black market guns. The severity of the situation prompted Optimus to intervene, bringing reinforcements in the shape of Soundwave, Arcee, and Jazz, who swiftly dealt with the problem. Back aboard Autobot City, the assembled colonists continued to praise their leader, which annoyed even Aileron. To Walk Among the Chosen

Bump and the other colonists later watched on as Optimus returned to base after opening a diplomatic channel with the recently arrived Junkions, and immediately bombarded their leader with questions about the new arrivals. A Lonely Pillar on the Plain The colonists genuflected as Optimus Prime returned to Earth from Cybertron, much to their leader's dismay, and later watched on as Pyra Magna and Optimus fought over Prime's agnosticism regarding the Matrix of Leadership. Bump joined the other Autobots as Optimus Prime negotiated a summit with several human governments... only to be interrupted by the Junkions, who sicced a horde of Sharkticons on the event. Dance Among the Shadows Bump participated in the battle to repel the Junkions from Metrotitan's deck, watching in awe as Optimus ordered his Titan to transform and seize the Junkion mothership. Future Glories Lost

After Optimus Prime brokered a new ceasefire between the Junkions and Autobots, Bump and the other Transformers journeyed to Bikini Atoll to start the construction of "Little Cybertron", a permanent settlement on Earth for the Junkions. Feel Safe Without Regrets The colonists took a break from construction to hold a funeral for the fallen Oiler, who had perished in the battle. Their efforts did little to console Oiler's grieving sister Slide. The Next Day, and the Next

A few days later, the colonists had started to grow bored of life on the island, and had taken to ignoring the Junkions after hours, preferring to hang out on the beach and feed the Sharkticons. After another day of hard work, they rolled out to do just that... unwittingly leaving Slide, who could no longer transform, behind in the dust. What It's Really Like

Bump lingered last in line for brains/And the one he got was sorta rotten and insane.

When Earth formally joined the Council of Worlds, Bump and the other colonists joined Aileron in Metrotitan's Space Bridge chamber to watch the proceedings from Earth—only for Baron Ironblood's attack on Iacon to deactivate the space bridge and cut Earth off from Cybertron. With Prime and his retinue stranded on Cybertron, Aileron took command and brought the colonists with her on a mission to find Jazz, mostly to keep them from jeopardizing the delicate situation even further. The team tracked Jazz to the small Mexican city of Oaxaca, were they ran afoul of more humans wielding black-market Cybertronian guns. Falling back to the edge of the city, Bump watched as Slide and Aileron argued about Prime's motivations and their next course of action. As they headed north, the colonists began criticizing Aileron's decision to find Jazz over tracking down illegal arms shipments, right before a nearby explosion alerted them to Jazz, pinned down by more gun-wielding humans. Primeless, Part 1

The colonists quickly intervened and managed to drive back most the humans on intimidation alone save for one, who, with some persuasion, took them back to a nearby ghost town to meet with the suppliers: the Decepticons Frenzy and Rumble, who had been using their holomatter avatars to facilitate an arms trade by smuggling weapons off Sanctuary Station. Realizing that any kind of punitive actions would only inflame delicate Autobot-Decepticon tensions, Aileron decided to cover up the situation entirely, with Jazz leaving to pursue his own mission. The colonists returned to Autobot City with the Decepticons and their stolen weapons in tow, with none of the other Autobots any the wiser about what had transpired. Primeless, Part 2

The defeat of the Iron Ring allowed Iacon to reestablish contact with Autobot City; with the space bridge restored, Bump and most of the other colonists went to Cybertron to watch Optimus Prime preside over Sideswipe's funeral. The Dead Come Home, Part 1

Some time later, he and the other colonists returned to Autobot City, and argued with Slide about Prime's motives while the Prime himself presided over the opening of an energon mine in Kentucky. Surfeit of Primes As a new crisis on Cybertron unfolded, Metrotitan himself abandoned Earth and space bridged to Cybertron, leaving the colonists behind. The Ground With nowhere else to go, they retreated to Little Cybertron to await further orders; while there, however, alarming news reports began to trickle in: Cybertron had abruptly lost contact with Velocitron. This was only the beginning: it quickly became apparent that something was deliberately destroying the colonies, and both Devisiun and Bump's homeworld of Eukaris were the next to go.

He spent his twenties between the sheets/Life limped along at sub-sonic speeds.

The loss of her home galvanized Slide into action, and the Devisen grimly announced that it was time to end Prime's reign. Unstopped and Unstoppable To show that she hadn't forgotten her Autobot comrades, the way Prime seemingly had, Slide and the other colonists boarded Sky Lynx and stormed the G.I. Joe outpost by Mount Rushmore to rescue Jazz from human captivity. The team quickly ran up against the Dinobots; when an emotional Gimlet smashed a human VAMP and fatally wounded Mainframe, he was sliced in half by Slug and instantly killed. Bump cradled his friend's body in his arms as Slug realized what he'd done. Time Will Rust In shock, Bump continued to hold Gimlet's corpse, futilely trying to coax his friend back to life even as Unicron appeared in the skies above Earth. He eventually recovered and traveled with the others aboard the Peaceful Revolution to regroup with all the survivors of Unicron's massacres. After a counterattack plan against the planet-eater was finalized, Bump spent his remaining time before the assault sitting with Gimlet's body. Bump then joined the attack force that met Unicron's Maximal army in Earth orbit. A Sunrise Dark Assembly

Bump fought the Maximals alongside his comrades, taking a moment to decry Slide's bitter attitude. The colonist recruits joined the Dinobots aboard Sky Lynx in chasing Bludgeon's ship into Earth's atmosphere. Back on Earth's surface, Bump and the others bore witness to Slide managing to join with the Torchbearers in forming Victorion and defeating Monstructor. Ceremony In the aftermath of Unicron's defeat, Bump joined the crew of a space exploration vessel captained by Aileron. They detected an anomaly some light years away and set course for it. Post
