: Re-released in the ''Transformers''-less ''Beastformers'' sequel series, Dark Raccoon was given a straight re-release with new packaging and a new, more filled-out bio card with corrected coloring. This new card also gave his weapon, now branded an "[[MVP Weapon]]", the name "Dark Fire".

Dark Raccoon is a Beastformer from the Generation 1 continuity family.
May the good Lord take a likin' to ya, an' blow ya up real soon.

Dark Raccoon (ダークラコーン Dāku Rakōn) is the kind of guy who likes to roam around. He's friendly and loves people, but he's also got a bad case of wanderlust, and has a tendency to just disappear without warning, vanishing for days on end. He spends this time idly taking in the nature of planet Beast by himself, enjoying the quiet, laying back and staring at the sky for hours, letting his mind drift... to thoughts of how to make things explode.

This unassuming raccoon happens to be the planet's foremost genius in the field of explosives and munitions. While his habit of vanishing is often infuriating to those relying on him, it's almost guaranteed he'll come back with some new, more powerful design for explosive ordinance. His own MVP Weapon, the Dark Fire (ダークファイヤー Dāku Faiyā) blade, is itself a colossally powerful weapon, able to ignite with a flame that burns at a million degrees. Good thing he's on White Leo's side.

Following the war, he has become the Emperor of his homeland of Madra, serving under King Bullorn. The pair have grown incredibly close, spending most of their free time together (when Raccoon hasn't wandered off, anyway).

Part of the second series of Takara's Beastformers toys, Dark Raccoon is an anthropomorphic raccoon in green robotic armor. His left arm ends in an open hand rather than a weapon-gripping hand. The Battle Emblem on his chest reveals one of three symbols when warmed up; Fire, Water or Wood.
He usually comes with a gold multi-pronged axe weapon marked with the same ID number as on his back. However, Beastformers is notorious for toys coming with someone else's weapon; it's unclear if this was just originally poor QC, but in the sequel series, this semi-random weaponry was actually turned into a "gimmick".
He was only available in the "C Pack" assortment, and came in a green-grid generic "Cybertron Beastformer" box. He came with a bio card with a painted character image on a jungle backdrop, though there was a chance his bio card would instead be replaced with the rare "Secret Photo" card featuring White Leo.

Notes

[edit]
  • Dark Raccoon's name seems intended to have been rendered as such, but "Raccoon" (ラコーン Rakōn) here is actually pronounced like "Raccaun" or "Raccone", perhaps due to his namer being confused by English orthography. The proper way to write the English pronunciation would have been Rakūn (ラクーン).
  • Dark Raccoon's 1987 poster-checklist art gives him very dark-gray fur, and shows him with a weird weapon that kinda looks like a more complicated version of Beafox's blade. His 1988 art corrects both of these mistakes.
  • As he was not sold in the post-Transformers sequel series and thus had no bio card, his "RPG"-era bio comes from the Hero Special 4: Beastformers mook. This bio gives him the nickname "Dark" (ダーク Dāku), and notes he was born in Madra's part of Tamara Bay.
  • Assuming the "1 million degrees" is in Celsius, that is the low end of the temperature range of the Sun's corona (which is hundreds of times hotter than its actual surface), so yikes.
